That is not the Rostrevor management team for next year... These folks only work with male teams and rightly so...
How did the ladies get on against Monaghan last night?????????

Oh right i wasnt aware of that... It was a terrible night for football anyhow - at least the girls were not forced out in such conditions..... They have a big game coming up at the weekend now against Meath... Should be interesting as they will play them in the league in the not too distant future.........

That is the Rostrevor management and although not expieranced in ladies football they are very successful in mens.
Not many can say what Tom Magee has won. Ddown minor under 16 league and champ.
Ulster feile champions
All ireland feile runners up
and many more
Liam farrell has a lot of knowledge of ladies football as his daughter plays for county and club and underage

I wish rostrevor all the best in the senior league and hope that they can survive the league, it will be good for down football

No matter how experienced their management, Rostrevor will struggle this year; look what happend to Burren last year, came up as clear intermediate champions, hammered in every match and straight down again. There is a huge gap in standard between senior and intermediate

It doesnt matter what any manager has won in the past. The new Rostrevor ladies mentors have only had success with under age teams and not mens.If their 2nds team poor league and championship performance was anything to go by last year, and the same people took that team, then the ladies team will prob go down. The men involved with this team have always depended on other people to train the teams that they were takin. In this day and age every team should have a proper trainer to take the team.I dont think it is good enough for any team whoever they are just to be given anyone to take them, not fair on the players. They will just have to wait and see how the league goes.

No point writing rostrevor off before the season even starts.... yes, there is a difference in the standard/competitiveness levels in intermediate and senior divisions. Thats exactly why we have different divisions! But a new team thats on a high after a successful season, with good team morale, and a coaching/management team that are interested and willing to dedicate time can certainly throw a spanner into the works. I even think they may have an advantage over some of the teams who have been playing senior football for years and have just been struggling for the past number of seasons.
Although Burren struggled last season, it was never a certainity that they would be beaten in individual games. I thought they gave a good account of themselves.

I wouldn't under estimate this young Rostrevor team coming through. I think they deserve much praise as they started with their youth and have now built a strong foundation in which to compete in the senior league/championship and much credit should go to Rosaleen Farrell and co in this department.
They have Brenda Russell in their ranks and her contribution to ladies football in down should never be under estimated. She was part of the squad for many years, her last grasp goal to take down into the all Ireland intermediate final is just one to mention. She was an integral part of the Iveagh/Bosco team and indeed was past skipper, so therefore she is well aware of what it takes to compete and win senior championships in down - Rostrevor no doubt will be drawing on her experience in the forth coming year.

Brenda Russell was a great player and servant to ladies football for sure - but key word is was.......... Time to move aside and let others pick up the mantle........

oh yes, thats an excellent plan for the progression of ladies football..... anyone with any experience and a positive attitude should step aside and only recount their glory days in the bar.... I've said it before, i'll say it again, (and im sure it wont be for the last time)..........
Singer - ur an idiot.

Thats a bit harsh singer saying that about Brenda. She is a model professional at her sport and someone whom many young girls in the community of Rostrevor look up to. I was delighted to see her picked for the county setup again this term and really hope she can give it a good lash in between the sticks.... Its good to have competition in all areas of the field when your a county manager and Elaine Mc Court certainly has competition on her hands now.............

I totally agree with you duff - that remark about Brenda is unacceptable and you should really wise up singer.
While I have nothing in common with Rostrevor I know this Gael is a true lady on and off the pitch. While she gives her all on the pitch, she leaves all heated competition on it and is an absolute role model for all in our county. Anyone with any knowledge of down ladies football would concur with me on this.

Go back to busking singer!! Although I do feel this practice would even be out of your league as it usually involves entertaining people!!!!

Good luck to the new Rostrevor Ladies Mentors - They are a bunch of dedicated Gaels with a proven track record who give up their valuable time on a voluntary basis - Like all voluntary mentors everyone loves to shoot them down - The Ladies are on a roll and should fear no-one it will be good experience for them and I for one wish them well whatever way the season pans out

Make a prediction of who will win each of the ladies leagues and who will be relegated and also who will win championships in various categories... We can then look back at end of the season and if i am wrong in any prediction - i will no longer write on this board...........
