Gate,

The difference is......Dublin is a county of 'National Impotance' and to highlight this fact you will observe that most threads on Dublin are started by non-Dubs.......at the moment I write this post you will observe that on page one of this board '2 out of the 3' threads with 'Dublin' in the title have been started by non Dubs!!!..........just goes to show Dublin is of 'National Importance'!! The GAA is a dead organisation without us!
Cant say the same for Tyrone!

Ulsterman et al

It's an interesting debate. Antrim have great hurlers and there is no doubt about the fact that imo they should be performing to a higher level than they currently are. All counties in both small and big ball have big club rivalries that can sometimes boil over to the detriment of the county team.

I suppose the question is how much worse is the inter-club rivalry within Antrim as opposed to other counties?

Imo the biggest thing needed for Antrim, very much looking in as an outisder though, is that all their underage teams be brought completly into Leinster, inclusive of schools teams as well with maybe some sort of combined schools team competing.

Did I read somewhere that Liam Watson was "not available" for Antrim this year ?

Yes, it seems some players are not willing to play or sometimes will play for but not give the 100%.

We had that type of thing in Offaly hurling back in the day, some brutal slashing in club games and an unwillingness to play together at county.
That was overcome (now we just dont have the quality) but I do agree that there seems to be an element of this in Galway and the acceptance of the "Johnny Maher" conduct is, I believe , the explanation there.

Some strong personalities at County Board and Management level needed but that has t be done carefully or there will be moans about dictatorship !!!
