i always heard it the other way that vinny murphy wanted to play for kerry but we didn't want him, i knew he played a bit with our hurlers all right. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 02/02/2013 16:07:24 1327217 Link 0 |
"If Darren O' Sullivan can play for Kerry then Paddy Quinn can play for Dublin." MichaelO (Tyrone) - Posts: 820 - 02/02/2013 16:14:05 1327223 Link 0 |
seanie_boy, why wouldnt darren o sullivan be able to play for Kerry? He was born in london to kerry parents and they moved back home fulltime when he was 12, he also played underage with his club glenbeigh/glencar when he used to be here on his summer holidays, so what is your point exactly?? Also hill16no1man, vinny murphy was never asked to come play for the Kerry footballers, he was well passed it at that time anyways. dubes (Kerry) - Posts: 69 - 02/02/2013 16:17:37 1327230 Link 0 |
Why is this not getting much media attention. The fact that Dublin with a population of around 1.5 million are picking outsiders is unacceptable. Its bad enough any other county picking an outsider in my opinion but Dublin doing it is ten time worse. uibhfhaili1986 (Offaly) - Posts: 1296 - 02/02/2013 16:57:07 1327250 Link 0 |
Seanie boy that's a disgraceful remark about Darren and it shouldent have been allowed be posted. One of your most high profile ex players was born in Canada and he was 100% Tyrone and was proud to wear the Tyrone jersey just as much as Darren is in a Kerry jersey. westkerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1250 - 02/02/2013 16:59:32 1327252 Link 0 |
What's disgraceful about seanieboy's remark westkerry? TheGateKeeper (Tyrone) - Posts: 2843 - 02/02/2013 17:06:21 1327255 Link 0 |
Gatekeeper - Because a lad is born in London to Irish parents and returns home that he shouldn't be allowed play for his county ! The amount of people leaving Ireland at the moment it would be great to think that someday there kids might be playing Gaa. westkerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1250 - 02/02/2013 17:13:58 1327263 Link 0 |
Now now lads take it easy! Its not the issue at hand, but us lads from the north are well aware about the importance of jurisdictions and all thats implied with it,sure yez are great at tellin us we are not in Ireland when it suits some of yez.If you read my post again you will see that I was saying that it was a not an issue. And I wasn't making any disparaging remarks about Darren O' Sullivan with the point I was making. He was born and raised for a large part in London, nothing wrong with that in my eyes so I don't know why you are getting annoyed.Nothing wrong with any Tyrone player being born in Canada either. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 02/02/2013 17:28:31 1327272 Link 0 |
Fair enough, I agree with you, but there was nothing disgraceful about TheGateKeeper (Tyrone) - Posts: 2843 - 02/02/2013 17:31:06 1327274 Link 0 |
Maybe Seamus Heaney was right during the week and John Hume was definitely right "We are a divided people". Tyronetim (Tyrone) - Posts: 1254 - 02/02/2013 17:35:39 1327278 Link 0 |
So just to be clear, there is nothing wrong with Darren O' Sullivan playing for Kerry.Had his parents moved back and settled in Cork or Dublin there would be nothing wrong with him playing for those county teams either. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 02/02/2013 17:44:47 1327287 Link 0 |
I don't think we are divided, if you look at the reception Mickey Heart recieved in Killarney I think that shows the respect we hold for Mickey and Tyrone. westkerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1250 - 02/02/2013 17:44:53 1327288 Link 0 |
Yes Mickey Harte and Tyrone were treated very well by Kerry fans last year. TheGateKeeper (Tyrone) - Posts: 2843 - 02/02/2013 18:06:57 1327294 Link 0 |
Westkerry sure these Dublin boys won't have a Tyrone man about the place. Tyronetim (Tyrone) - Posts: 1254 - 02/02/2013 20:37:29 1327342 Link 0 |

Very strange decision by Gavin to include Quinn in his squad. Its not as he doesn't have a choice of Dublin born players. Quinn is a decent player but unless he improves massively, he will not be near the championship team. Just think he is blocking a young players progress by his inclusion.
