Division Two

Hopefully Louth will stay up. Armagh and Laois to meet in the final with Armagh winning it. Longford and Wexford to get relegated.

I reckon we can go on a decent run this year and possibly go up. Most teams are much of a muchness and just whoever can string 3/4 wins together will be in a decent position come the business end.

The fixtures have been quite nice to us so i reckon we'll have a big say come the beginning of April.

In what should be the 9th-16th best teams in the country, division 2 is exceptionally weak. For what its worth Laois will probably be promoted. Armagh should be able to pick themselves up somewhat this year and maybe sneak the other spot. With Crossmaglen involved in the club championship again they'll be missing a few but they have 4 games at home.

I think Wexford and Longford should be competitive. Big weekend for Westmeath and Galway in particular. If either or both of them lose this weekend I think they'll be relegated.

Really anything could happen in this division, it'll be tight and every game should mean something but the standard is likely to be atrocious.

Don't know where the idea of Longford and Wexford both being relegated comes from when you factor in their league and championship results over the last few years when compared with Galway, Derry and even Armagh but heigh ho...
Longford are quite strong at home but have tricky away games against Armagh, Laois and Wexford. They have been promoted the last 2 years but staying in Division 2 will be their primary objective. Kavanagh has gone travelling and Paul Barden is injured but they blooded some new faces in the O'Byrne Cup which will hopefully add a bit of strength to the panel.
Prediction
Promoted - Laois/Armagh
Relegated - Westmeath/Derry

Hard to see what way the results will go this weekend - Only real cert is of Tyrone beating Down :)

Regardless I have to share my view that Saturday night football is not ideal for many supporters including myself. 7pm on a saturday night?? Why oh why have the GAA decided that.

I work all saturday, I have no time to travel to a game in the evening. Many others find themselves unable to attend these floodlit games due to other social commitments etc. What is wrong with the good old fashioned Sunday Match? Load of nonsense playing prime time on Saturday night!

Some of the crowds will be down due to the distances people will have to travel on a Saturday nite.

Interesting that people are talking up Armagh for promotion. This morning's Irish News rates them as relegation contenders.

I certainly wouldnt be talkin up our chances of being promoted. This year and possibly next are about rebuilding more than getting promoted. Laois and Galway would be favourites for me.

tricky division to call, anyone can go up or go down.I can't see Armagh going to well if I am being honest.Longford should do enough to stay up.I think westmeath will stay up,they really should be challenging at the top end of this division with the players available....manager is poor though.A lot of people going for Laois,I really don't fancy them at all.

Its only guess work but Galway seem to have put a lot of work in over the winter, so they should be the team to beat. Longford after two great years in the league may find it harder this time round. But wins over Wexford and Westmeath and a draw along the way should see them safe. By the way when are the Gaa going to gice three points for a win?

I'd fancy Galway to go up for sure but its a lottery after that. Think it will be Westmeath,Longford (both 4 away games) and Louth fighting for survival.

I see a Laois v Galway final the Ulster teams have two many question marks against them.

Why is everyone backing galway and laois. They both have been seriously below standard in the last 5 or 6 years. Granted I haven't high hopes for my own county but i hope we stay up. Westmeath should be in trouble too.

Wexford and either Galway or Derry for the chop. Louth might surprise a few.

What on earth have Galway done to merit consideration for promotion? Their last game was an embarrassing loss to a second-string Sligo team where they scored the mighty tally of 1-4! In last year's championship they were well beaten by Sligo and were knocked out of the qualifiers by Antrim - two teams that have at best an outside chance of promotion from division 3. I fancy Armagh to go up along with either Laois or Wexford.

Hard to see Armagh going up without the Cross contingent.

The discussion on here is very interesting. I think every county except for Derry have been predicted to be BOTH relegated AND promoted. From that, I guess the consensus is that Derry are going to be safe in mid-table while for any of the others it could go either way. That makes the league quite interesting an unpredictable. I don't see a team winning all 7 games here.
