1341688 Dublin impressive again last night, Kildare did enough to take Kerry, should be a great game next weekend!
I'm not so sure. Realistically on yesterdays performance we won't come within 5/6 points of Dublin. Ye're way too strong in most sectors.

Another step forward for Tyrone yesterday in what turned out to be a pretty dull game after the sending off of Murphy. For what it's worth, I think his reaction/tackle after the penalty was worthy of a yellow card. His first card, while it will be interpreted as a cynical foul by stopping Tyrone building from the back, I thought it was harsh as both teams were at this all day but only a select few received yellow cards for it; Murphy was one of the unlucky ones. The inconsistency in that from the referee was frustrating for both teams. I don't think Joe will get the whistle in May after yesterday.
As for Tyrone, it's another small step in the right direction. Niall Morgan has justified Mickey Harte's faith in him with some nice points, a couple of great saves and his comfort under the high ball. One area where Tyrone have been inconsistent the past few years is the free-taking department, so to have someone who is confident to strike the ball from 50 yards or more is a welcome addition. Our defence held their own but I would still have my worries over this area, McKenna, McNamee and Clarke are still finding their feet at this level - games like this are great for their development though. Sean Cavanagh continued his great start to the season with another fine game. Aidan Cassidy also helped when he came on, but big Gallagher and Kavanagh will take some watching in May. Up front, Paddy McNeice went through a lot of running off the ball, big Joe dropped deep to good effect and took a great score, Mark Donnelly done ok but still seems very light for this type of challenge. Stevie got 1-2 without being spectacular but Peter Harte was very very quiet. Thought young McAliskey was taken off a bit sharp, though Penrose was an excellent man to bring on.
Overall I think Tyrone done well yesterday without being in top gear. I fully accept that Donegal were operating at a level somewhere below 50%, but I don't think Tyrone showed their full hand either. Another win should see us into the semi finals, which are vital games for us as these younger players continue to develop. I would've been happy just to see us stay up this year, so far so good. Looking forward to the Championship game in Ballybofey later in the year, but plenty of games between now and then to get right first

1342013 Tyrone tried to play football today, Donegal attempted to 'lay down markers' and it blew up in their faces! Some of the arm-chair journalists on HS should go to the actual game before voicing their worthless opinions here! You know who you are! Tir Eoghain abu
Gatekeeper,
Calm down a bit, this was a league match in March, no need to get so excited. Your response is very much in tune with some of the over the top stuff which we saw yesterday from a section in the stand when Murphy was sent off, not to mention the reaction of your keeper after the penalty.
As for laying down markers of course there was an element of that going on from both sides. Nothing "blew up in anyones face" yesterday. The players knew that this was nothing more than a dress rehersal for May but they weren't likely to let men they will be marking on the big day get the upper hand.
It wasn't a great game, Tyrone fully deserved their win but Donegal will be a completely different animal in May when they are at full strength, fully fit & not experimenting (Neil Gallagher at full forward?????). Until then keep taking the blood pressure tablets.

Tyrone v Donegal terrible to watch, rugby league at its best. Non stop hand passing cyclical foul after cynical foul. What I watched yesterday compared to Saturday night was not Gaelic football. Donegal are horrible to watch and Tyrone are not much better. Muckheadross and everyone else slag me off but if you were a netrual watching that yesterday you would say the exact same thing it was horrible.

Muckrosshead, if anything was proven yesterday it was that Donegal are very ordinary without M.Murphy! At times yesterday, Donegal were playing a game that just wasn't gaelic football! It was reminiscent of the Donegal/Dublin game in 2011! Paddy Heaney states in the Irish news today that P. Harte was 'sacked' by 3 opponents in midfield, sacked is not a word that should be used in Gaelic football, but then again, this is McGuinness' Donegal team! Thankfully Donegal will win nothing this year, and Gaelic football will be the better for it!

I watched the Tyrone-Donegal game as a neutral yesterday and though it was a great game. Sean Kavanagh and Stephen O'Neill kicked some excellent scores, and Michael Murphy got a fabulous point in the first half. It was an intense game, just like you'd expect from two teams who'll meet each other later in the championship. Tyrone, in particular, mixed handpassing and long kickpassing very well.

You are not a neutral Clondalkin, you are just a man with a chip on his shoulder that everyone but yourself can see.

I watched that tripe yesterday and nearly threw up in my mouth. Lads running in front of other players when they were taking a free. General lack of respect for anything that moved.
BOTH TEAMS SHOULD BE THROWN OUT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Interesting to see that the by now traditional Donegal and Tyrone baiting (puke, rugby league, disgrace to GAA, yadda yadda yadda) has started very early this year, please do keep it up as it in part drove Donegal on to greater things last year and I'm hoping for a similar reaction from my own county.

Good post and very balanced view on the game from a supporter of one of the teams. I think both teams will improve from yesterdays game. Big Joe must be on the horse burgers cos I only thought he was big last year!!! but in fairness a team can completely transform in a few months. We got whipped in Kerry last year in the league but had no reflection on the championship encounter later in the year.
I'd say Tyrone will be happy enough but again Peter Harte seems to go AWOL against Donegal. Donegal will be just as happy as we kept in competitive for the entire game even with lesser numbers. I thought there was some really cynical play yesterday by both teams and can understand why a neutral wouldn't have enjoyed it as a spectacle as I though it was overall a poor game with multiple mistakes and a fairly inconsistent ref who had in fairness a difficult game. The off the ball stuff going on between Mc Gee and O' Neill was ridiculous and though both players were lucky to stay on for the entire game.
I was looking forward to seeing this new Tyrone side play and you have definitely a team with potential but even after losing the game yesterday I think we can currently match your best team so it will definately be on who performs best on the day.
To the poster who think Donegal are no good without Murphy maybe you should look at the facts. We scored more yesterday in the second half without him and only for a rather fortuitous goal would have actually won the second half!! Maybe have a wee rethink on that one!!

Only saw a few minutes of yesterdays game and I thought the standard was really good. Some of the support lines run by Tyron coming out of defence was superb and there was at least two long range scores that would make any highlight reel. One score in particular by Donegal, early in the 2nd half was incredible. The tyrone team had pretty much all come back with up to 12 players behind the 50. Donegal switched the play numerous times and I think thet must have had 20 phases before somehow eeking out a bit of room for a score which was achieved. Look this is now the modern game, particulary in Ulster. Possesion is king and unforced errors are at the minimum. Tackling is unforgiving and and dallying in possesion will be punished. The skills levels are very high, especially in terms of executing the skills under sever pressure.

If watching Donegal V Tyrone makes you throw up, what must watching Wicklow make you do?

Donegal Vs Tyrone from the sounds of it looks like I missed an awful game. Its a long way from September but Tyrone will take some positives, as beating the AI champions is always a boost. The Dublin Mayo game was more entertaining but if anything it underlines the dependence that Dublin have on Bernard Brogan . Still great to see him regaining his form but who knows what will happen come August-September . I just worry that the hype machine will take over and for Dublin that's never been a good thing. Dublin face Kildare next time out that will be an interesting encounter as Kildare come off the back of a good win.

Spmccann that's the same for every team , look at Donegal yesterday without Murphy they struggle big time. Take every counties top forward out of there team and they won't be the same. Take Seanie Johnston out of the Kildare team yesterday and they would have struggled for scores, Cork have not been the same without Daniel Goulding whose been injured mots or less the last two years.

I would say that if you took Tomas O'Connor out of our team we'd really struggle for scores. I'd say Seanie would say that too...

Let me get this straight doublehop, you're saying we now have other forwards apart from Johnny Doyle?
That just doesn't seem right...
