Afraid to say that Dublin are just going to pull away from all other teams in Leinster more and more as the years go by. If you compare like for like, it is not a fair playing field. AthboyGael (Meath) - Posts: 75 - 23/01/2013 10:05:50 1322109 Link 0 |
The cash from (for example) the Spring Series doesn't go to Dublin's coffer's. The Vodafone sponsorship is indeed a lucrative one, but it needs to be, given the sheer size of Dublin GAA. But most of the larger Dublin clubs are self-financing as indeed are a lot of the Dublin Juvenile development squads, each generate their own funding - with minmal subsidy. From Minor up its different but it has to be, just look at the amount of teams they have - not to mention Hurling. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4954 - 23/01/2013 10:19:22 1322116 Link 0 |
ONE All Ireland in 20 years doesnt seem like domination. Meath have 4 in last 25. Stop feeling sorry for yourselves. keelman (Mayo) - Posts: 113 - 23/01/2013 10:20:56 1322118 Link 0 |

Im not so sure playing in Croker all the time is a distinct advantage. I believe the Dubs would find out more about themselves if they had to play on the road more often. Croke Park gives them a false sense of security and hence they are found wanting at key moments. As Keelman says, 1 AI in 20 years is hardly domination. ballybannongael (Down) - Posts: 547 - 23/01/2013 10:47:39 1322134 Link 0 |
Dublin have a lot of supporters. Parnell Park is to small for most Dublin home league and championship games. Croke Park is in Dublin. Croke Park is a GAA stadium. So the problem is, the county's home ground is too small and there is a stadium down the road that is big enough and nobody is using it? What to do? bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 23/01/2013 11:11:36 1322150 Link 0 |
you would expect them to ascert their various advantages soon enough yes and begin to dominate...the large population they have and the fact that dublin is a miles bigger urban area than anywhere else in the country means if they get things right underage they will have floods of talent coming through ffgg (Longford) - Posts: 2571 - 23/01/2013 11:20:59 1322155 Link 0 |

I know Im from the north and that but I was under the impression that Dublin has been bigger and more populated than other parts of Ireland for many years....... Im sure that they like everyone else will strive to be the best regardless FULLOFIT (Down) - Posts: 50 - 23/01/2013 11:56:23 1322184 Link 0 |
Listen your right we do have a big advantage and at last we have our underage structure in order, but in nearly every sport played all over the world there is a team with a much bigger advantage than everyone else it's just the way it goes. I like the way one poster says in the last 20 years Dublin have been in 1 final but in the last 25 years Meath have been 4 haha very selective,we have been in 4 aswell if you had of said 25 years. Plus the all ireland finals of 07 and 10 were Dublin v Kerry and Dublin v Cork it just happened to happen in the semi final but everyone knows they were the real finals of them years. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 23/01/2013 12:00:39 1322189 Link 0 |
my opinion is just id expect them to ascert the various advantages they have even more so in the next few decades meaning they should begin to dominate ffgg (Longford) - Posts: 2571 - 23/01/2013 12:02:41 1322193 Link 0 |

AthboyGael - has Meath not benefited from the Dublin population explosion of the past 15 years? Sure Meath is a suburb of Dublin at this stage. Ye should be all amalgamated - greater dublin! ;) yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11637 - 23/01/2013 12:26:41 1322228 Link 0 |

I know it was suggested before that Dublin be split into North Dublin and South Dublin. It would definitely give a lot more people the opportunity to play to play intercounty and I think it would make make the Lenister championship more interesting definitely in football.
