The Lillies for the Chelsea flower show , Dublin for sam :) ......
Nah in all seriousness i'm looking forward to it. Will be a tough test for some of the younger lads , by far the toughest so far. With a half decent crowd expected too i hope it will be a really good game. The result people will say doesnt matter , And it probably wont in the long run , But silverware is silverware and i would love Dublin to win on saturday night and would be disappointed if they didnt. The more wins we get under our belts the better. The Wicklow game was a dead rubber but we responded well to that last sunday in Drogheda. Hopefully we can kick on on saturday. The league is very important in gaining momentum going into the summer , Last year we had an inconsistant league and an inconsistant league led to a very inconsistant bordering on poor summer , So Its vital we get ourselves we prepare for the league well and what better way than to win the OB cup.

Sound a bit like the Dubs last year when they had to go travel when the hurlers had to play Clare, of course there was an excuse as to why it was different then like there always is when it comes to the Dubs
We were only delighted with our trip down to Ennis. There wasn't much complaint from us then although I'm sure you "remember" it differently.
You've some cheek though to try and have a go at the Dubs claiming that it's different when it comes to us. You're from the county that wants to treated specially and allowed to around driving while drunk!!!

Going by our performances to date, Dublin would want to be winning this by at least a double figure margin if they're serious about doing anything this year.
If not then Leinster is either Laois or Meath's for the taking.

KILDARE (9) 1662, 1968, 1970, 1973, 1976, 1982, 1989, 2003. 2011. MEATH (8) 1967, 1974, 1977, 1983, 1992, 2001, 2004, 2006. DUBLIN (7) 1956, 1958, 1960, 1966, 1999, 2007, 2008.
Chance for Dublin to close the gap in the Roll of Honour.
I see Kildare are the real traditonalists here :-)

I'd be happy enough to lose if exploits a weakness or two that we're not sure about. Last year we had a team that was flying the O'byrne Cup (the junior team lost the final) only for them to be well beat the first two days out in the league. Losing now and then tidying things up for Donegal sounds appealing to me.

what a ridiculously stupid statment, your either trying to play your team down(which before the o byrne cup final is a very negative attitude to have) or else seriously are deluded, you not remember last year kildare beat dublin in this very competition did it mean we didnt go on to win leinster ?

Massive difference between playing the Dubs in their first game after winning the All Ireland, a time when they mightn't have been fully focused and mightn't have had the same winter training behind them as in previous years, and playing them like we will be now, after they've already won three other games, got lads back to relative match fitness and have a manager eager to prove himself in the senior setup after some great success at underage level.
Again, Dublin by ten or else Leinster is blown wide open.

again stupid statement what does the winning margin if we win have to be 10 plus anyway im sure come the start of their leinster championship every team in leinster will look back to saturday nights game and say ah dublin only won 8 points against kildare leinster is ours

Very simplistic man!
I don't think this game will have any bearing on the Leinster Championship. If Kildare were to win by ten or Dublin to win by ten it will have no difference on the destination for the Delaney Cup come July.
Don't forget we lost to Wicklow a week and a half ago!

Dublin are at a higher level now than they were for the opening match last year.
Kildare are at a lower level than they were for that same match.
Obviously other counties like Meath won't just assume Leinster is theirs. That would be foolish.
They'd have to beat Longford and Laois (more than likely) first, then a Dublin team who can't hammer a poor Kildare team.
Simple really.

The game on Saturday is about trying out new players, gaining confidence, trying news things, getting confidence back, and getting fitness back.
Like the Louth match it will show nothing about the opposition. From our perspective, it doesn't matter what Kildare turn up. We're solely interested in getting things moving! People reading too much into O'Bryne Cup matches in terms of potential meetings later on are clutching and straws.
