Haha good result confidence wise for Monaghan but seriously Donegal had the third string out today so wouldn't
be reading anything like that into it. Wouldn't say jim is too pleased through.

yeah there finished!!! murphy mc fadden and lacey were not at the races today, big neill couldn't catch anything in midfield, mind you he wasn't helped by durkans poor kick outs. The two mcgee's got roasted along with frank!!

Wouldn't pay too much heed to this considering the teams that were out, still a moral boost to Monaghan though

No, none of team that played in All Ireland played today. It was essentially an experimental u21 B team.

My god!! If there was a law for bad grammar and spelling you would have been arrested and charged by now.

"Is this result true* ? That's a massive* win for Monaghan*. What happened* Donegal? Was anybody at the game

the McKenna cup is a Mickey Mouse tournament for Donegal. none of the all Ireland starters or used subs played or togged out today. a few squad players and most of the u21 team (bar their best players Paddy mc Bearty, Marty o Reilly, ryan mc Hugh,etc)....Mc Guinness said on the radio that if he finds 1 or 2 players from today's squad he'll be delighted. The A team are back training 4 times a week, .in saying that Monaghan played well in second half, with Kieran Hughes landing 5 or 6 great points. looks a player to watch out for the ulster championship.

Jeesas lads didn't even recognise one Donegal player - was a trial match full stop.

I think Donegal lost all 3 McKenna group games last season, and had a relatively poor Division 1 league campaign. But all that changed come championship.

Jack O'Connor said on the Jimmy's winning matches programme on RTE, that Kerry were confident they would beat Donegal in the All Ireland QF after thumping them in the league by 11 or 12 points down in Killarney. But in the QF it was clear Donegal had Kerry's measure.
Now Donegal didnt set out to have a poor league campaign, but we now know its pointless looking at McKenna cup and League form with this outfit. Come championship they will step it up a gear regardless of how the early season is.

Donegal have only won 1 of the last 8 Mc Kenna cup games. Mc Guinness doesnt want any stupid injuries by some opponent trying to make a name for himself in January. I must say though I do feel for the travelling Monaghan fans who were hoping to see some of the All Ireland winning team play.

Donegal won the Mckenna cup in 2009 and were out of the championship in June (badly)
Had a miserable Mckenna cup campaign last year

The same will apply to the early part of the league. I don't think we'll see anything much from Donegal until they meet Tyrone in early March if even then.

Just as a matter of interest all last year's semi finalists were beaten today, Donegal by Monaghan, Dublin by Wicklow, Cork by Tipperary, Mayo by Leitrim. I don't think we'll be seeing many results like those this summer!!

I agree that we won't see Donegal until Summer football comes along. I think Down, Tyrone, Donegal and Kildare will be fighting to avoid the drop in the upcoming League campaign.
