You might have made the same mistake I did as I thought it was just going to be on the radio myself and was trying to find on the rte.ie website radio stations for a while but it was on the 'rte player live' as the poster had said. One of the larger than life figures that thankfully populate our games. May he rest in peace. mod (Mayo) - Posts: 859 - 18/12/2012 21:19:37 1311954 Link 0 |
sport in ireland is a sadder place today as one of its finest, if not the finest was laid to rest: none finer for heart, drive, passion, committment and no modicum of talent allied with a hint of devilment; and all for the love and pride of family, parish and county and the green and gold: RIP Paidi KevHill (Antrim) - Posts: 271 - 18/12/2012 21:37:07 1311958 Link 0 |
Very sad to see my boyhood hero go. A rogue and a gentleman and wasn't a too bad a footie player either keithlemon (Australia) - Posts: 920 - 18/12/2012 21:48:36 1311962 Link 0 |

RTÉ showed "Marooned" last night, the documentary on Páidí and Westmeath's Leinster Championship victory in 2004. He was some character. Cute_Kerry_Hoor (Kerry) - Posts: 2518 - 16/01/2013 13:32:29 1319078 Link 0 |
Ya it was kind of sad in a way to watch, he was all pride and passion there is no denying it, He was also so aminated on the sideline, I'd say he kick every single ball himself while he was watching Horsebox77 (Kerry) - Posts: 5491 - 16/01/2013 13:50:45 1319093 Link 0 |
Watching the programme as a former player and now coach,it brought to the whole manager/player dynamic its true perspective. Paidí really wanted those great Westmeath performances and victories for the players and supporters. His own ego became secondary to the team, although his winning personality could be seen in the resilience of his players. That takes intelligence and ability. God rest his warrior soul and spirit. Brought me back to a better Ireland last nite, PIO Knew Westmeath had Talented players as Gleenon, Dolan, O Connell and Heslin ,they would make any countys team. Paidi was a brillant motivator , but his best trait, was that he was a winner pure and simple. Westmeath played some beautiful football that year. kerryrowz (Kerry) - Posts: 833 - 16/01/2013 18:22:08 1319342 Link 0 |

Just in case anyone didn't see it, Dara O'Se has a great piece in today's Irish Times on Paidi. Fantastically written. A lovely tribute: doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 16/02/2013 16:52:42 1334859 Link 0 |
