Slán leat a fhear. Ní fheicfimid a leithéad mar Pháidí Ó Sé riamh arís.

Ba rí peile agus rí na ríochta é.

As has been often said, the word legend is over-used but Paidí really earned his legendary status. one point conceded in 10 All Ireland finals, a stand out performer on the greatest team of all time.
I was in his bar a few times but only once had a very brief chat. I was in awe in the presence of the man. The stuff of legend.
May he rest in peace

I didn't watch it myself but I understand that Paidi was included in a roll of honour of deceased sports stars at the BBC SPOTY awards last night, which was a very nice touch.

I saw that last night and thought it was great that he was included.

I heard the news early Saturday morning via a phonecall from a relative. I thought somebody had got their wires crossed. Sadly it was true. I'm deeply saddened by Páidí's death, especially as he was still a young man. I'm still in shock as most of Kerry and the GAA world is.

Páidí was a leader, a hard but fair footballer, attacked with flair, had great guts and determination which his 3 nephews later showed also.

I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, the last time being February of this year. I arrived in Dingle on a lovely fresh Saturday morning with some friends. They left me as I parked the car near the Church in Dingle. I saw the King himself strolling up the street towards me, whistling, paper in hand. He didn't know me from Adam but I still said hello to him sheepishly as he passed. He stopped, smiled, shook my hand and said "Welcome to Dingle". I will always remember that, made my day.

His signed book will also be cherished.

A huge loss to Kerry, the GAA and Ireland as a whole. I still can't believe it. Deepest condolences to his wife and 3 children, and also to the rest of the Ó Sé clan.

R.I.P. Páidí

Cute_Kerry_Hoor

That's just one of the many stories I heard about Paidi O'Se since news of his death broke.

I grew up in the 80's and that Kerry team were sweeping all before them to glory. I used to love watching him play. I will always think of him first & foremost as a great player, probably the best defender I've ever seen in Gaelic football. People tend to say nice things about others when they pass, but I'd say this to anyone, if you show me a better defender ever than Paidi he'd be a genius. His use of his hands to tackle and win the ball was second to none and the way he strode upfield to score was really ahead of his time. He scored 0-2 in the 82 All-Ireland final, often forgotten because Kerry lost.

Even though he was obviously a talented manager, his management achievements were secondary to his playing achievements in my opinion. He was outstanding and a nice bloke too by all the accounts I've heard/read.

The GAA has lost an absolute legend. May he RIP.

Nice post Real Kerry Fan

A great Gaelic footballer that loved the sport. The story about Paidi's first game against Cork (as told by Paidi himself) and his meeting with Dinny Allen was brilliant...Dinny, after scoring with almost first touch, turns to Paidi and says "they'll be taking you off now boy"...needless to say it wasn't Paidi, of the two, that left the field first that day...

An icon, a legend of our great game. He'll be sadly missed but not forgotten.
