Jacko and Spillane were the engine room of that great Kerry side, Kennelly and Liston the power, and Sheehy and Egan were the class, but Paidi was its heart and soul. He swashbuckling style on the field was matched only by his huge charisma off it. He was as proud and partisan a Kerryman as one could find, yet Paidi's roguish charms meant that fans all over the country loved him as though he was one of their own. I think many will see his greatest achievement was winning westmeaths first and only leinster in 2004 beating dublin on the way. While in the greater scheme of things its only small compared to all ire captain, player and manager, the county of westmeath went delirious and he will always be as much thought of in the lake county as he will be in the kingdom. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 16/12/2012 10:25:44 1311024 Link 0 |
