Only Tyrone outside the five established favourites have any chance of winning Sam.

Donegal will do well to retain Sam, I wouldnt rush out to put money on them for 2013. Mayo almost caught them in the all Ireland final after Donegal had a dream start. Goals won it that day for them but they dont come everyday. Personally I think Donegal had peaked in the semi finals when they were at their best. Mayo probably blew their best chance of winning sam this year.

What? the best Mayo did in the final was to get within 3 points of Donegal and once they did the Ulster men went down the field to pop over another point. Truth to be known Donegal didn't play as well as they did Cork,Kerry but they didn't need too and Mayo as brave as their effort was they never looked like winning this years final.

1996 remains the only final Mayo blew the others 1989,97,2004,2006,2012 they were simply beaten by the better more talented side.

Galway will beat Mayo in Con and will win Con cham

Tyrone will beat Donegal in Ulster and win Ulster. Believe or not Tyrone are a class team and beat Kerry for 3 Sams fair and square, with no help from Refs.

Laois in Lennister, could will win the cham, some class players in their ranks.

Dublin, Donegal, Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone could all start out as favorites. Things change very fast in sport. If one or 2 star players get injured from these counties you can take it that they would be on parr with second round of favorites Down, Cork, Galway, Laois, Kildare, Meath. Favorites playing a bad game V second favorites having a good day can quickly change matters. The secret is for a full panel of players to stay injury free, next play at their best and then believe that the more you win the closer you get to all Ireland glory. On this basis I would put 11 counties with a realistic chance of winning Sam, 4 of these teams Dublin, Donegal, Tyrone and Kerry would have a better chance than the rest but thats provided they stay injury free and play at their best which does not happen in every game as we seen with Donegal in the all Ireland Final, that was far from their best performance all year. Galway I feel will beat Mayo in the Connaught championship as both these counties pound for pound have exchanged Connaught titles on almost an even basis for many years. This would push Mayo into the qualifiers along with either Tyrone or Donegal because one of these two counties will be pushed into the qualifiers too. If Cork and Kerry meet you can expect an even contest so you can expect Cork or Kerry in the Qualifiers too. Teams dont perform very well in the qualifiers and the phycological damage from losing a game can affect the stronger counties more than the weaker. I strongly feel that Galway will beat Mayo and thus take winning connaught more seriously this time. Tyrone would be more able to deal with the Qualifiers if they loose to Donegal but I cant see that working the other way round. If Donegal loose to Tyrone Donegal will have more phycological damage as they are All Ireland Champions and will struggle to get over any defeat. Thats the joy of sport. Unpredictable, well unless its hurling and I think we are all getting sick of predicting that at this stage!

Spot on Galway 1974, very good post. It would be a nice wager to have the double on Tyrone and Galway to beat, Donegal and Mayo.

@ ClassApart Some of the teams in Leinster have home and away agreements - in 2011 Longford played Laois away but when they played in 2012, Longford were at home. Teams that do not have agreements for example Meath & Carlow and Longford & Wexford played at neutral venues.

As far as I know Brian Kavanagh is travelling next year and although he's not the player he once was, he'll be a big loss for Longford as will Barden if his injury is as serious as they say. While it would be great to see Killoe progress in the Club Championship, it could have a very bad effect on Longford as the McCormacks amongst others will be sorely missed. Longford will benefit from playing in Division 2 and if they are competitive and not relegated they will have great confidence heading to Aughrim in May. They have done well in the qualifiers the last few years but really need to make an impact through the front door to show how far they have come under Glenn Ryan

I think Donegal will Improve in 2013, and have an exceptional chance to win back to back titles. I rank Donegal as my favourites for Sam, with Cork, Mayo, Dublin, Kerry and Tyrone all having a say in matters.

Dark horses: Armagh will make waves this year, and will likely contest the Ulster final. I'm interested to see how Tipperary will kick on from last season, They look like they have scope to Improve and become a formidable outfit.

Kerry & Dublin have new managers, and it is a massive ask for any manager to win an All Ireland in their first season. New managers like to stamp their authority on the team, and implement their own Idea's and systems. Both teams should be close, but maybe not just ready.
Tyrone will be stronger, and very dangerous. However they are still Inconsistant, and if they lose to Donegal they may well slip up in the qualifiers.

I see the 2013 All Ireland SF's most likely lining up as Cork v Dublin and Donegal v Mayo. With Kerry and Tyrone having the potential to alter that line up slightly.

All of my 11 counties Ive listed above will have a say. Anyone who right off counties like Down, Armagh, Galway, Meath kildare, laois from having a say is not clued in to the game. Everyone of the favorites can be beaten by any of these sides on a giving day!

sure its the same with meath and kildare. we beat kildare last year, but kildare are still shorter odds to win leinster.
