...a team who would not be considered one of the better all ireland winners
I agree with a lot of what you said in other posts on this topic but the above is rubbish.

i can see what clondalkin is saying it has always been that way when your going into the championship and if we get knocked out it always feels like that for the couple of months after but once everything has settled on a championship year i think getting to all ireland semi final is certainly not a bad year for any team in football getting to the final is a pretty good year and winning it is a great year, but when your knocked out it takes a while for that horrible feeling to leave.

1298186 If only all supporters were as nice and patient as you. Lets live in the real world here for a minute and stop going around in circles , Dublin winning Sam is doing well anything less is a failure.
Its rubbish like this that puts extra pressure on the Dubs and contributes to the hype that surrounds the Dubs. When the hype and expectation died downin 2010 and 2011 we went out and won an All Ireland. If it wasnt for this unfair expectation the Dubs would have won more over the years I reckon.
We have fantastic potential and talent coming through at the moment. Dubs should get behind the team and not have unrealistic expectation levels that will put them under further pressure. If you feel anything less than an All Ireland is a failure you are going to be a very depressed man.
you can put any spin you want on it but that is a fact.
There is no spin being put on anything here. What are you on about?
Gilroy won us Sam that still didn't stop me slating him after the Mayo game for playing fennell and Cullen and bringing on an unfit Alan Brogan.
That statement brings to mind tabloid newspapers. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on things but for flip sake Gilroy knows a lot more about the game than you, and believe it or not he wanted to win the game. He had four years with the Dubs - four successfull years in my opinion. It took the first two years to set up the All Ireland win. The first year thought him that the team was innocent and that they were not going to win anything playng open football and the second year thought him that they were good enough to win an All Ireland. Two successful years in my opinion that lead to an All Ireland win. You probably regard those years as a failure.

What exactly have Kildare done to make them All Ireland contenders? They couldn't even beat Meath who are a div 3 team as everyone keeps reminding us.

I agree with that. I hate that horrible feeling when or if your summer comes to a preamture end but in hindsite and when the dust settles when you look back over the year despite not winning there are often positives to be taken and it does not necessarily mean your season has been a failure. I feel clondalkin is expecting eway too much and is being unreasonable in his expectations. Look, I want Dublin to win every year but its not going to happen!

I think Tyrone are a few years away from contending just yet, I wouldnt go near them even at 20-1.
Theres no doubt Donegal are the team to beat, but Mayo and Dublin depending on how Jim Galvin does should be the next best.
Cork are always strong but I could see them declining after last year, thats two years in a row they've bottled it on the big occasion now.
I think Kerry need to change things, some new players are needed and I think Donaghy needs to be dropped, young Geaney looks a great player and should be given a chance in the first 15 but I think they need to start recruiting because they arent going to win an AI regardless in the next couple of years in my opinion...but I think Fitzmaurice has a big decision because if he starts to rebuild, by the time the young lads have found their feet in a few years, players like Marc and Tomas, and Pul Galvin will be gone and theyre irreplaceable.
I think if Mayo can have a good league campaign and keep Andy Moran fit they'll compete again no doubt, but without Moran I think theyre full forward line is average.
1. Donegal 2. Dublin 3. Mayo 4. Cork 5. Kerry

It's not rubbish it goes with the territory of being a Dublin player you are consistently under pressure when playing for Dublin. The hype will always be there, there's no getting away from it. And what's this rubbish you can't win Sam every year tell that to Kerry and kilkenny I'm sure they'd disagree.

culann i mean in relation to how dominant they were winning it...donegal won theirs this year and some of the kerry all irelands were won when they looked a clear step above the pack..dublin and cork recently are examples of 2 teams that generally struggled to win theirs but i dont mean to take anything a win from winning it as thats all that matters i just mean in relation to expectations about winning all irelands regularly

Ruana Do you realise Meath beat Kildare in this years championship and more importantly do you know Cork beat them by 13 points in the quarter finals?

He ranked the teams according to their performances against Donegal during the last 2 Championships. Meath didn't play Donegal in that time and Kildare ran them close in 2011.

part 1 ok culann heres my two cents on the pre season crsytal ball. january will throw in in the gaa world with the usual huge crowds in letirim wicklow and longford as the chance of glory awakens. kerry will refuse to play in mcgrath cup (hardly a shock) cork will stroll through it winning each match by an average of 25 points and counihan will prfoess we will have to do alot better than that to hold onto the league title.dublin will meet meath in the o byrne cup final where inevitably the game will end in a draw under lights in parnell park after extra time a late free from dean rock will win it for dublin.mayo will give walk over to new york in the fbd final and tyrone will defeat donegal by 5 points to 3 in the mckenna final. kilkenny will win the english league beating warwickshire in a thriller.clare will win div 4 with curses been mentioned that mick o dwyer has cured them. meath will saunter through div3 and sack dowd after a county board meeting.laois will beat longford in the div2 final while dublin meet cork in div1 final with dublin 1-09 v 0-05 up at half time but lose in the end by 1-13 v 0-17.cork declare they are pulling out of the national league in 2014 as it is hampering their championship ambitions.the championship roles in under lights as now that we have longer days of sun we are determined to play all matches on saturday nights and have to switch the floodlights on at half time because of the rain. donegal win ulster but controversary arises as jim mcguinness is asked to become neil lennons right hand man, he decides the 500 thousand a year salary is too good to turn down and packs his bags for glasgow full time. martin mcchugh takes over and donegal crash out to mayo in the quarter final thanks to a conor mortimer goal. kerry beat cork in munster final in front of 15 thousand in killarney the munster council are now deciding on playing the football and hurling on the same card next year to generate money while also announcing a 70 thousand all terrace venue for waterford city. galway win connaught, while after a full house for dublin v kildare the ref decides to call it a draw before a ball is thrown in so back to hq for a saturday night replay in front of 65 thousand and dublin win by a stephen cluxton penalty.

part2 the all ireland semi final sees meath (who have come through the back door after loosing to dublin in leinster final and beating tyrone in omagh sack their manager yet again and decide it is time for colm o rourke to finally take over) take on kerry. paul galvin and the evergreen graheme garagthy are set to come on as subs and get involved in a brawl over whos boots are better matched to their kit the ref sends bothoff before they make the playing area. the game ends in a draw and replay is won by meath with meath getting too late goals, galvin watched the match from new york and declares he is joining xpose. dublin play mayo in front of only 45 thousand on a sunday and the gaa blame dublin county board for diluting the croke park factor by staging the spring series at the venue.they also ask donegal for tips and come up with adding another 10 euro onto entry at the stiles to make up for the loss of revenue. mayo lead 10 v 4 at half time having kicked every single shot over the bar. dublin decide to play for a half hour this time instead of 20 minutes and a brusting run from tomas brady from full back feeds the recently homesick ex aussie rules recruit ciaran kilkenny who decides to go around the mayo keeper and slot home the winner. so its a first ever dublin v meath all ireland senior final and with the recntly renavated pairc tailteann packed to see meath training. meath county board decides to sack colm o rourke for personal reasons 3 days before the final. so sean boylan returns to take the reigns and brings back olly murphy into the starting line up. dublin take a 3 point lead only for murphy to score a goal with last kick of game to earn a draw. the gaa decides to up the price of the tickets for the replay and suspend dermot connolly for not wearing a gumshield. after an appeal process that ends up in the foru courts connnolly is successful and must wear gumshield for the replay. the replay is under lights on a friday night a new venture the gaa announce and dublin start well with connolly yellow carded for loosing his gumshield in a tackle. at half time dublin lead 6v4 and hector and jedward are having a white collar boxing match for the half time entertainment. meath race into two point lead and find themselves in an unfamilar position so after a quick phone call to jim mcguinness who is just after helping celtic successfully beat st mirren using an 8-1-1 formation boylan decides to bring everybody back into their own 45 yard line. boos ring out and two cluxton 45s level the match with 2 mins to play. with time almost up meath go all out and attack in numbers md mccauley turns the ball over and delivers to paul flynn who runs from 45 yard line inside and kicks the winner.boylan is sacked after the whistle and jim mcguinness is offered 1 million euro to manage meath next season.

There was no hype in 2010 and 2011. Kerry don't win SAM every year. They win about once every three to four years. We win it once every five years. Thats on average. Look, i'd love to win it every year but its not going to happen. I hate the hype and pressure that surrounds the Dubs team too but it appears that isn't going to change anytime soon but that something i'll just have to deal with.
