Its not just one thing that makes them what they are. It starts in the schools were the children are encouraged to play the game ( A lot of ex kilkenny and currant players are teachers in these schools). They have the hurl in their hand every day and with the success that the seniors are having at present then their is a massive knock on effect of children wanting to become intercounty players for Kilkenny. They want to represent their county not play for Man United, Celtic etc, galwaybhoy (Galway) - Posts: 83 - 13/11/2012 17:18:34 1297156 Link 0 |
Well as a cynic I would always argue its more difficult to win the football championship as more teams compete. JayP (Dublin) - Posts: 1772 - 13/11/2012 17:53:31 1297186 Link 0 |
I agree with you 100% JayP ~ WELL SAID, no other sport in Kilkenny is taken as seriously as the hurling, its a crying shame on their part.... Joe_Don (Louth) - Posts: 247 - 13/11/2012 18:00:58 1297194 Link 0 |
Thurlesblues, If Sheflin stayed on the field in 2010 ye would have won nothing. But in fairness your management from 2010 got out when the going was good. hound (Meath) - Posts: 234 - 13/11/2012 18:36:35 1297218 Link 0 |
The last time I watched any of these so-called dominant sports in other counties, there was maybe 500 people at league of ireland football matches. Is that what people call dominant sports? Kilkenny have produced Olympic boxers and professional rugby players in recent years. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 13/11/2012 20:55:03 1297320 Link 0 |
