Yew tree i actually would like to see that match up, it's a great achievement to win it twice, having said that when was it changed that it didn't have to be your first year

Did it ever have to be just your first year? Or was it that you had to be U21 AND it be your first championship year? Makes no sense otherwise, a lad could be 30 making his inter county debut, have a stormer of a championship, and win YPOTY, unlikely as that is.

Also a few Meath people have just been embarrassing in this thread. You are letting the fact he is from Meath really cloud your judgement. If you saw a player over the border in Cavan or Dublin who you knew deep down in all honesty was a better candidate then Keoghan (or any meath player) for any award, would you be campaigning ths hard for them to win, because you knew they were a better player? No. You wouldnt. It just sounds childish to think that Meath people are arguing for Keoghan on merit, and that anyone who opposes him is just spiteful or holding a grudge.

I appreciate that Keoghan is a great player and we are lucky to have him, especially in the few games he played very well in this year, but making statements that he was robbed of an all star or that he is already the greatest corner back in Ireland is just giving hostage to fortune. Wait a few years till he gets truly established against a greater range of teams, then we might be able to boast a bit.

CastleBravo- I respect your opinion but no one has actually said Donal was robbed, we all congratulated Cillian and rightly so. If other people want to discuss their new players thats great. Thats what this is all about. Realisticly it's all about debating and disagreeing, if everyone had the same opinion about players it would be very boring. And anyone on here long enough knows well what gammyknee is all about. All you have to do is look at the Louth page and then look at Meath related discussions..

Btw if_in_doubt, I posted yesterday regarding Fogarty but it hasn't come up, Mcgeeney should be giving lads like these more of a chance.

Classapart 100 % correct it would be very boring if everyone agreed " plus we all. Congratulated thr young lad, but without doubt donal had a fantastic year regardless

i think alot of the meath biased thoughts are here. he is a very good player but some of those games were against lower down opposition...he has plenty of time to prove his worth....starting with a division 3 campaign!!!!!

Superdub his two best performance came v kildare and dublin hardly lower teams even though both regressed last year, but still calling them lower opposition is a bit unfair on both them counties

Ye can wish for the match up between o'connor and keoghan all ye want but it wont happen. Meath wont win leinster and cant even make the quarter finals anymore either. Keoghan had one good game against an average kildare team. I would have given Ciaran Kilkenny a nomination for the 3 points he scroed against mayo and his brilliant displays in the under 21 championship if thats the case

Pitch invader what about v dublin? Look get back to me when you know what your talking about, O'Connor didn't deserve it the donegal lad or keoghan are ahead of him and also things can turn very quickly im a counties fortune, remember London?

I posted about this yday but it didn't go up.
The match up between Keogan & O'Connor will never happen not because Meath won't get to a quarter final or whatever, but because there is no way Meath management would put our best man marker on someone who is more or less no threat from play! He is good on frees but unless he makes a massive improvement on his general play this won't happen. Keogan would be put on a Mayo forward who scores from play. Can't believe nobody else has pointed this out!

It won't change one bit he IS the ypoty, O'Connor is not a patch on him but conrats to the lad, but keoghan is still very much the talent of the year,

'Talent of the Year' eh? When do they give that award out?
