Culann

I totally agree with you. It has got embarrassing but to point this out is to be labeled anti British or told you're living in the past. It is perceived by many to be backward if you hold on to our own traditions like wearing a Lilly to commemorate our dead but the poppy is alright even fashionable.

this thread has gone out of control..celtic are a big club that is a fact i havent a clue what you are saying anymore your argument does not make any sense you disputed scotland being a well attended league and i clearly showed you it was one of the best attended leagues in europe even without factoring in population...i mean money by interest tv companies have in the league etc promoted it well around the world if you put celtic and rangers in english league they would be able to attract a lot better players etc meaning more money..now your just going off on a rant about not being able to identify skill etc it makes very little sense as nobody in any sport gets picked unless they prove their ability at the highest level especially international soccer...i agree ireland has become a pretty sad country in a way maybe my labels towards some of your opinions were wrong culann but i felt some of your points were far too strong...i hate the poppy and what it stands for....you are better off starting up a thread in the soccer forum about it hill if you feel so strong....i will not continue arguing with you if you will continue to blatantly ignore facts such as attendence figures i provided and the fact that the vast majority of players who have represented ireland both lived and grew up in ireland how can you even dispute this?

like the grandfather rule was used a bit by johnny giles but mainly jack charlton...its used a good bit to this day but the majority of the players grew up in ireland..you cant dispute that the vast majority of players who have represented ireland are not 'plastic paddys' as they are commonly referred to as

as recent example irelands last major game in the world cup v spain in 2002featured 10 players who played a part in the match who are either from ireland or irish born while the team who played spain had 7 out of 11 irish born in the starting team again the majority non 'plastic paddy' again showing your points to be completely false hill...sure some of the players are from the irish diaspora but the majority are irish...now lets please argue in facts not something you heard down the pub or in a newspaper as you make an awful lot of pub arguments

hahahaha for a lad who starts off by complaining this thread has gone mad he then acts like a little puppy looking for affection by continuing to go on and on about celtic man let it go not everybody holds them in such high esteam as you,as for attendances celtic who you claim bring in 60 thousand each week played at home this weekend and managed 32 thousand alot less then your claims, there was 3 thousand at inverness and hearts,4 thousand at kilmarnock v ross county, 4 thousand at motherwell v dundee,4 thousand at st mirren v aberdeen now theres your facts pal.

where is your evidence of this?...i provided a link which clearly shows the average attendence of each side?celtic average 45000 in scotland which is very good for a league of similar standard to the airtricity it shows how much strong support they have

i dont mind people not liking celtic but there is no point trying to make false comments about them and dispute their achievements both in europe and at home...they have massive support as do rangers there is no disputing this

so you named a list of players who have represented ireland over the last 30 years?..well done..your comment was all the irish teams were made up of plastic paddys...this is just factually incorrect..the vast majority of players have been irish through and through

you asked me how was scotland one of the best supported leagues i showed you a list which showed it was one of the best supported in europe even if you dont factor in the population argument but one would obviously have to factor in a population argument if you are going to compare attendence of scottish and german league considering germany has a population of around 82 million while scotland has a population of around 5 million...god its hard to get through to people such as yourself....please come up with responses which are actual facts and have evidence to support them...not some argument in some pub where you and a few others rant about those supporting man utd and celtic and others

celctic achievments in scotland are nothing as they only had one team to compete with and now they are gone they nearly win by default.
in europe well they have managed once to get out of champions league group thus far i think so says alot about their achievments.
as for your ireland thing come on i listed off top of my head those players and they were all involved in major tournaments theres probably countless more
your so afraid to admit it you have better chance of playing for ireland if your not born in ireland or never played soccer in ireland which is very sad.

even if your evidence is actually true you pick out the weekend when the 3 best supported teams outside of celtic are playing away from home and then put forward an argument of how poor the league is supported?...god do you not realise how weak your argument is?give up please its getting laughable
