Well Foolsgold you beat me to that one, I guess both reports come from same interview or maybe he is doing a number of interviews and is sticking to the same line. There would appear to be a vacancy in the Celtic Managerial set up as Alan Thompson whose contract was terminated a few months ago was never replaced. Lennon himself was over here for the All Ireland , guest of Jim McGuiness? who knows, however the speculation has now surfaced on Celtic Fans sites as well so we will just have to wait & see.

I think you'll find that although it sounds like a scottish radio station, Highland Radio is in Letterkenny.

Thanks Tir Conaill, my pal did in fact say Highland Radio but as he is Scottish I assumed the Radio Station was Scottish, should have remembered my old Teacher's words re assume, never assume anything as assume makes an ASS of U and ME. I am suitably chastened.

He still has 2 years left on his contract with Donegal, couldnt see him walking out on that.

Well the Donegal GAA county Chairman PJ McGowan stated that in a recent Interview that Jim McGuinness has a 4 year deal with Donegal.
Now I don't know if that standard practice for every county managerial setup, but it certainly looks to be in this case.

The position of manager and player is Amateur and as far as I am aware the position of manager is by appointment.
The engagement of other proffessional services from Proffessional firms and companies on a contractual basis is an entirely different matter

Either way, whatever is in his contract I'm sure Celtic would be able to afford an adequate compensation package for the Donegal county board? As a Celtic supporter I'd be delighted if we had McGuinness onboard.

Can definitely see there being some truth in this. Celtic are notorious for exploiting their tenuous Irish links for financial gain and what better way to further their support in Ireland than hiring a successful GAA manager

Well pplocal, using language like exploiting and going on about tenuous links are both fairly insulting to Celtic's history but what's clearly worse is that your post is even more insulting to Jim McGuinness himself. He has an MSc in sports psychology from John Moore's University in Liverpool and has given plenty of talks lectures to non-GAA groups and organisations. He would have plenty to offer to Celtic as a leader in his chosen field of expertise (just like Enda McNulty and to suggest that the only reason Celtic would be interested in him is that he is a GAA manager is very demeening to McGuinness and his achievements.

Like perhaps working one or two days per week, as soccer players have so many coaches these days. Between fitness coaching, strength & conditioning, nutrition, tactical coaching, most teams have a full diary. I'd imagine they would want McGuinness to set up an environment were players can excel and be psychologically stronger.

For that, I can't imagine he would need to be there more than 2 days per week. The man has worked wonders with Donegal, and is definitely a shining star in the GAA.

A friend of mine from Glasgow e-mailed me a few minutes ago to say Jim McGuiness was interviewed on a Scottish Radio Station, I assume twas this morning. He said he was very impressed with both the people and the set up at Celtic Park. He was a guest of the Club for the home Champions League game against Benefica and visited the Celtic training complex at Lennoxtown the following day. He said he supported Celtic & Arsenal, he was non-committal when asked about his future, said he had received no offers from anywhere but should an offer materialise he would give it careful consideration. Can't vouch for accuracy of this post just relaying what I was told.

This is true but it was donegal's highland radio he was interviewed on.

It's in the papers today - it reads almost like he is touting for a job which surprises me but needs must as he says he's a father and husband with young family so reponsibilities.
