McGuinness for Celtic

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I have heard a rumour that Jim McGuinness has been offered a backroom job with Glasgow Celtic, is there any truth in this. Wd be an awful loss to GAA were he to go.

Heard that rumour alright, but I couldn't see Mc Guinness leaving his beloved Donegal to join a mickey mouse league like the Scottish Premiership!!

He visited Celtic park earlier this year, and Liverpool are said to be Interested in his talents. But if anything, I can't see him doing more than maybe a part time consultancy role with either/both teams.
He still has 2 years left on his contract with Donegal, couldnt see him walking out on that.

No truth in it whatsoever! This is old news from last week before he was even linked to Liverpool! A lot of mischief being made by the sounds of things!

A straight swap deal with Georgios Samaras. Samaras will line out at full forward next year alongside Murphy and McFadden.

Mc Guiness and Rory Gallagher were at the club championship yesterday in Donegal scouting for new players for next season. He will be manager for Donegal in 2013 and will probably think he can achieve more with the current panel so why leave. With more success breeds more stature for Mc Guinness and if he has more success with Donegal he will always be able to graze in other pastures in the future. Thankfully for now he's still managing Donegal.

HE was over in parkhead last month for a look. None of us know for sure what is going to happen, but I would speculate that he will get a part time role at celtic and possibly we will see the donegal team train in glasgow instead of carton house or enfield.

Do GAA managers have contracts?

Job managing team for the love of it versus job involved in team where you could potentially be on a very nice wage = no brainer.

No, but you find me one man who would genuinely give up the chance to earn a lot of money doing something they are qualified in to stay and do a job which they love and receive no payment (as we are to believe) and I'll find you 100 men who would do the opposite.

He has a family to consider. If he has the quality of life he wants in Donegal then no money would move him to Britain.

A friend of mine from Glasgow e-mailed me a few minutes ago to say Jim McGuiness was interviewed on a Scottish Radio Station, I assume twas this morning. He said he was very impressed with both the people and the set up at Celtic Park. He was a guest of the Club for the home Champions League game against Benefica and visited the Celtic training complex at Lennoxtown the following day. He said he supported Celtic & Arsenal, he was non-committal when asked about his future, said he had received no offers from anywhere but should an offer materialise he would give it careful consideration. Can't vouch for accuracy of this post just relaying what I was told.
