Is there even a need for a backdoor in hurling?
I couldnt be any more bored with how Kilkenny celebrate bad for the gaa.

I must say the goal that was disallowed was a shocking decision by the ref.

The game might have been 11 points in the end but that goal might have lifted the Galway team and given them the bounce they needed.

Fair play to Kilkenny and in particular King Henry history making 9 All Ireland medals... Jack O'Shea held that record for a long time.

This bad for the game stuff is a load of pants. You can only admire them. They are not going to be this dominant in 10 years lads so chill the beans and enjoy the greatest Gaa team of all time!

Yeah all in well The flaker but how does this dominance inspire young kids from other counties to take up the stick fact is - it doesnt unless your from kilkenny in which case you will grow up with the stick in the hand anyway.

Sorry you are trying to tell me that Kids from other counties won't play hurling because Kilkenny are dominant at the moment? Absolutely laughable! Why would any of us play football in Mayo? No success in 61 years, what about your own county? Kilkenny won't be dominant forever, just an absolute freak generation of hurlers. For anyone to suggest a dominant team affects our promotion of the game is silly.

so killkenny win yet another final. starting to lose interest in hurling now. same old same old.
i taught galway were very limited well managed team with a plan. in terms of quality they really lack it. to many passengers up front on joe cannings train.

Well done Killkenny. Blew Galway away in the end. Greatest team of all time in the GAA for sure. will be some years before that can be matched again if ever. Well done again

Are you trying to tell me that counties been involved such as Mayo and Donegal in the football final instead of kerry for a change doesnt make kids in Mayo and Donegal take up football more and promote the gaa more than if kerry had won again?
why then was there this line last year it would be great for the gaa if Dublin won instead of Kerry? because it is good for the promotion of the game end of.
Im not saying Kilkenny are not a good team and if they deserve their win fine - I dont think it does any favours for up and coming hurling counties at all for Dominance like that it is great to see new winners in the football the past 5 years and long may that continue but it was also great to see Galway win the leinster hurling because it shaked up the hurling championship from the predictable semi pairings etc but sure ended up predictable in the end.

My point is Kilkenny won't be dominant like this in a few years. Kids will play the game regardless of Kilkenny winning this year of not. Anyone who claims otherwise is talking nonsense. If Kerry won the next 7 all Irelands in football it is not going to stop kids in Mayo playing football, even though they haven't won Sam since 51. This argument is pants.

I am not saying it will stop them I am saying it encourages a larger number of kids to take it up as a sport when they see their county been successful.

And I'm telling you they will play anyway, look around your own county. Success is irrelevant.

newsflash , its not up to kilkenny to promote hurling in mayo kildare cavan etc. Its simple really, its up to the coaches in the clubs in every county. The young lads in our club hurl because they love the game. The biggest threat to kids hurling are simpletons that are anti hurling at club level.

It is difficult to make your point without taking a lot of stick. People seem to think you are having a go at KK-which you are not. I agree with most of your points. I am not sure what can be done for next year, but this year's hurling championship was dull. Bar the leinster hurling final and Westmeath/Antrim, all games went to script.

There is huge strides been made in Hurling structures and at underage level look at the kildare under 21 b team playing in All Ireland final this year progress been made in kildare I just think that the Hurling championship is gone very stale and kilkenny winning every year does it no favours.

This Kilkenny team will be spoken about for many years and I'm glad that I've been able to witness them do their thing.

Also, along with a fantastic team you have probably the best ever hurler in Henry and best ever manager in Brian Coady

Such greatness should inspire young lads, no matter what county your from...

I can guarantee you that no matter what kilkenny's success, kids in Wexford will continue to play hurling. And football.Because unlike in counties like Meath (royaldunne, you seem to have a massive chip on your shoulder) young men are given the opportunity to play these 2 wonderful games. Why people on here turn every debate into a tit-for-tat argument as to which is the better game,is quiet simply beyond me.

For the love of god I am not saying it will stop kids playing where did I say that? of course kids will continue to play what I am saying is if there was different winners of liam for a number of years or a different shake up of the hurling championship larger number of kids might take it up.
