Definitely the end of this much maligned Northern tactic-long live fast free flowing football

yes ballboy, three all-irelands from northern teams stemed from this tactic. 100% wrong though to use it. maybe mayo should come up with a new tactic to try and win one, the fancy football they have tried to play for the last 50 odd years clearly isn't working

no 5wingback there is a rule where the attacking player is not in the area for more than 5 seconds i think, no such rule for the defender

I think Armaghgeddon is right, we havent seen the end of Armagh. They will be back in a final in two years.
Armagh. Tommy Murphy Cup winners, 2010.

Down are closer to winning it.

after what we have seen there must now be a case for putting the ulster champions into the qualifiers the champs are not good enough to deserve a 1/4 final spot and the weekedn proved it in abundance, ulster champions should go into the last round of the qualifiers, connacht and munster should go straight to the semis, and leinst go to the 1/4 finals that would be more representative of ability and make it alot more appealing

Well, from reading some of the stuff on this board, all I have to say is that everybody loves to make a scapegoat. In this case, it's the Nordies.

Wexford started using a sweeper against Down to stop Benny Coulter after they got hammered by Dublin. No different from some Northern teams. It's what teams do if they are trying to limit the long ball in to good forwards. Nothing particurally new about it. After that it is just hard work. It is the aim of all teams to stop the other team from scoring, it's called good defending but once a couple of Ulster teams started to change the status quo it had to be given a new name.
