Definitely the end of this much maligned Northern tactic-long live fast free flowing football kingdomfan (Kerry) - Posts: 393 - 12/08/2008 15:18:38 72233 Link 0 |
yes ballboy, three all-irelands from northern teams stemed from this tactic. 100% wrong though to use it. maybe mayo should come up with a new tactic to try and win one, the fancy football they have tried to play for the last 50 odd years clearly isn't working samin10 (Armagh) - Posts: 2434 - 12/08/2008 15:41:23 72269 Link 0 |
Its not anti-Ulster at all lads its just the way ye TRY to play the game.It worked for a small while but now you have to try and play football you are being found out.Stay out of the gym this year lads and bring more than one football to training. You never know kingdomfan (Kerry) - Posts: 393 - 12/08/2008 15:41:42 72272 Link 0 |
and just remeber lads.it was a leinster team (wexford) who finally killed it. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 4012 - 12/08/2008 15:43:37 72277 Link 0 |
no 5wingback there is a rule where the attacking player is not in the area for more than 5 seconds i think, no such rule for the defender samin10 (Armagh) - Posts: 2434 - 12/08/2008 15:49:43 72295 Link 0 |

after what we have seen there must now be a case for putting the ulster champions into the qualifiers the champs are not good enough to deserve a 1/4 final spot and the weekedn proved it in abundance, ulster champions should go into the last round of the qualifiers, connacht and munster should go straight to the semis, and leinst go to the 1/4 finals that would be more representative of ability and make it alot more appealing ball-boy (Mayo) - Posts: 4211 - 12/08/2008 16:03:47 72323 Link 0 |
ballboy the same could be said for the munster champs.how many munster teams are left in the chmapionship?0.none.not one. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 4012 - 12/08/2008 16:14:55 72354 Link 0 |

Well, from reading some of the stuff on this board, all I have to say is that everybody loves to make a scapegoat. In this case, it's the Nordies. MichaelO (Tyrone) - Posts: 820 - 12/08/2008 16:54:41 72468 Link 0 |

Wexford started using a sweeper against Down to stop Benny Coulter after they got hammered by Dublin. No different from some Northern teams. It's what teams do if they are trying to limit the long ball in to good forwards. Nothing particurally new about it. After that it is just hard work. It is the aim of all teams to stop the other team from scoring, it's called good defending but once a couple of Ulster teams started to change the status quo it had to be given a new name. maiden (Down) - Posts: 85 - 12/08/2008 17:18:43 72521 Link 0 |
