I utterly condemn any attack on Pat Spillane. His job as a pundit is to give his opinion. I for one do not agree with most of what he says but I absolutely defend his right to say it. He was up in Donegal at an Ulster Bank gaa road show a few weeks back and the Donegal fans he met at O'Donnell Park in Letterkenny are more representative of true fans than the couple of thugs he met on Clonliffe Road. Apologies Pat from a true Donegal fan. irishtom (Donegal) - Posts: 219 - 06/09/2012 15:01:41 1260790 Link 0 |

Ulsterman, that is outrageous. He is entitled to any view he likes. Does that mean that Kerry supporters would be entitled to attack Brolly because he called the Gooch a choker? Whoever was responsible for that are thugs pure and simple and should be identified by decent Donegal fans (99% of them I'm sure) and made sure that they don't get into the final. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 06/09/2012 15:16:20 1260814 Link 0 |
I would like to say sorry to Pat for what can only be described and cowardly idoits, I like many others had an issue with him for things he said last year about donegal football and some of our players (ryan bradley) but this is not even anywhere near an excuse to actually phyically harm him. I repeat I condemn this outrageous attack on Pat Spillane who I believe is a very affable fella away from the cameras BUT at the same times are we so stupid and naive not to expect some headers to react to his words which at times can be very offensive and hurtful to others? Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9837 - 06/09/2012 15:20:20 1260827 Link 0 |
But Jimbo you surely understand that it is Spillane's job, just as it is Dunphy's in the soccer and to a lesser extent Hook in the rugby, to make comments which cause debate. As for your chums at BBC, maybe they should take a leaf out of Splillane's book. The likes of Hanson, Shearer, Lineker are among the most mundane, passive and dull pundits you are likely to see. At the end of the day Spillane and Brolly are there to give strong opinions no more than you or I would do in the pub on a Sunday afternoon.
