1243860 Most in Dublin no matter what's said here class Mayo no better or worst than Laois,Wexford or Meath the answer is...Dublin will approach the semi final the same way they approached the other games so far this year.
Good man GAA lover, you'll be pullin your hair out boy, if we start to get on top of this one, of course though you're just a neutral and it won't bbother you.........yeah right , dead on man, we believe ya.
There will be no running into the hill end, you're located an end to warm up these days anyways and the Dubs will get the hill end as the GAA don't do "upsetting their own".
It's neither her nor there anyway as Horan nor Gilroy are into that sort of antics.
The game itself is as hard to call as you can get, nobody truly knows how we'll deal without Andy, what we'll come up with, how we'll set up or who will start , it's anybodies guess. The rumor mill is in overdrive in Mayo with notions of additions to the panel from as faraway as Austrailia, personally i don't believe any of it only that Ciran Mac was asked to join the panel and refused prior to the Q/F.
If S O Se is fit enough , i'd opt for him on the 40 with Cillian on the square.
The Dubs have not been as good as last year so far, nobody can really dispute that but they are here now in a s/f and the realisation of that they are 70 mins away from another final will kick in, that will restore the hunger add in the almost cliche "tis only Mayo" and they will really be fired up for this, A Brogan back too.
I still believe we are capable of taking the Dubs and if i'm totally honest i believe we will, i honestly hand on heart believe this is an animal of a Mayo set up, the likes we have never seen, they have not shown their true potential yet and will be around for another 3/4 years no matter what happens on the 2nd of Sept.

The sides in which teams warm up are pre-determined now, so will people please stop going on about how Mayo will go to the Hill end to rile up the Dubs, if they do, it will because they were told to, and vice versa.

Both 51longago and wayno hit nail on the head. Neither of the current managements are going to get sucked into the sort of embarrassing stuff we witnessed in 2006.

yes they are predetermined but the dublin team always get the hill 16 end.........dublin should NOT have any hold on any end of the stadium as it belongs to every county equally............don't you or anyone else even try and justify this imbalance/favouritism by coming on to say who'd want to warm up in front of mainly dublin fans.........dublin always get that end of the stadium regardless of who wants to warm up at that end...........it's not an option for others and that should be of real concern to be honest.............like i said earlier mayo should go to that end of the ground even though they'll have been told to go to the canal end to warm up.............a fine at worse is all that will be imposed on them...........come on mayo stand up against the establishment for yourselves first & formost but for others also who haven't the guts to stand up for themselves.

51longago on another thread you said Mayo will be lucky to keep the scoreline respectable and what about the not caring what others had to say about you? If your at the semi final stage you must be prepared to be judged this isn't Sligo,Leitrim your playing and remember with your lack of knowlenge you have no problem judging Donegal as over hyped, over rated. I'm a neutral (it's well known at this stage) doesn't matter to me..i just hope the best team wins the All Ireland and we have some good football to watch.

Lack of knowledge ? Yep of course, whatever you say lad.
Let's see, how did you say Mayo would do this year? Won't make the last eight and wont win Connacht championship, last years victory over Cork was only papering over the cracks .
The papering over the cracks comment was the one that really shows you up, you were suggesting this set up had made no inroads since defeat in Longford.
My knowledge is grand, my opinions might seem outlandish at times, like when i suggest we would beat Leitrim by a cricket score or we would breeze through Connacht or even when i suggested we would beat Down handy by 7/8 pts at least but luck has it i get a fair bit right about Mayo so far, that is just luck in fairness and i wouldn't pull anyone who gets a prediction wrong ( as i and everyone else gets it wrong most of the time, otherwise bookies would be cleaned) but your analysis of Mayo is both filled with bitterness and a complete lack of understanding of what Horan and his team are building.
I will pull the thread if you wish where you gave your totally barmy analysis on Mayo.

1147164 If Mayo can't beat a much changed Kerry side with little to play for what chance vs full strength Kerry side focused on getting to the league final?
"The fact of the matter is that we will be in an All-Ireland Quarter-Final in August. We're nowhere near the likes of Kerry and Dublin at full tilt. If we avoid them two in the Quarter-Finals we could be back in the semi's. Anything less than a Semi appearance would be disappointing."

1131628 Those that thought 2010 was just a bad year is deluded. Yes Mayo got to the semi final last year but that was papering over cracks remember not so long ago Wexford reached the semi final as well.
Galway my tip for Connacht this year.

51longago the man that doesn't like selective stats now uses selective quotes. I was wrong about Galway just like yourself afterall didn't you think they would beat Sligo. Three championship games your lot has played this year, I said Mayo would beat Leitrim comfortably, get a narrow win v Sligo and i said you would beat Down pulling not bad eh? not really because all were easy to predict even you would get them right.
Most GAA fans would understand beating leitrim,Sligo and winning the last two Connacht titles v two Div 3 teams by two points is hardly vintage stuff. Bitterness or hate torwards Mayo nope it's called constructive analysis maybe i should quit that and join your hype machine of everything is fine James Horan is the messiah, if you don't win the All Ireland this year you will be back again next year, Nah i'll stick to constructive posts.
Now going back to my post on this thread Dublin don't see Mayo as anymore of challenge than Laois,Meath or Wexford was, the real challenge in their eyes is Donegal,Cork and after winning the All Ireland last year the least they expect is to reach another final. on the other hand that could work in Mayo's favour as the Dubs have yet to hit top form and might get caught eventually.

1243658 lets hope when mayo come out they head straight for the hill 16 end................dublin will of course be there before them but mayo being there before dublin in 06 didn't stop dublin from taking to that end of the ground also........................it would probably only cost mayo a fine but it would certainly upset dublin AGAIN.............i'd be prepared to contribute something to help mayo pay that fine as i'm sure thousands of others would aswell...............come on mayo lets have yeh...........dublin think they have a god damn given right to warm up at that end of the ground every time...................it's our national gaelic games stadium and it belongs to all the counties EQUALLY therefore dublin should not have a hold on any end of the ground.............yet the gaa always bend over backwards to facilitate the dubs in this area....................come on mayo let them know you mean business........... you'd have the backing of every other county on this....i'm sure.
Thats right Gammy, know your place boy.

Oh sweet jesus give me patience with this poster "GAA Lover".
You said Mayo were only papering over the cracks from 2010, you said we would not be in the last eight this year, you said this prior to the league semi final with Kerry also predicting a Kerry win.
Now i'll go slowly, i am not picking you up on any predictions, i am pulling you up on your ridiculous analysis about Mayo not progressing any since 2010 debacle , your words "we were only papering over the cracks last year and would be found out this year.ie Not win Connacht or make last eight.
You got it wrong, very wrong, sin e.
If i had an ignore button, i would put you on it now, you are just a mess, your latest post above now is hinting Mayo could now actually make an all Ireland final, this is now to cover your tracks because you realize i'm showing you up for what you really are and you're running scared incase your nightmare comes true.

51longago- i'd say if the ignore function was available 99% would use it for your posts. I expected Galway to win Connacht beating Mayo in the final so for once i was wrong. Now laddie have a look at your path to the All Ireland semi final Leitrim a Div 4 team,Sligo Div 3 and Down whom were soften up by Donegal in Ulster final. Most half decent teams would reach the semi final with games like that. The Dublin game will be Mayo's first test, After losing to Longford by one point with 14 men yourself Killer88 talked about 2010 as some bad era and now having beat the might of Leitrim,Sligo you are back on track? well we'll see and i'm not ruling Mayo out as remember average Mayo's teams have reached the All Ireland finals before. (Just ask Kerry)

You talk in complete riddles, you critise Mayo then you backtrack and praise them just incase you are left with egg on your face stop fence sitting and make a prediction.
If I'm honest in my opinion this months break will do us good and get a good siege mental state in the panel I expect us to win Mayo have improved and if you think we will underestimate a team that gave us a belting in the spring you are wrong we know all about them but we are the All Ireland champions 70mins away from where we want to be, I'm interested to see how this Mayo team will react if they go afew down and I'm equally interested to see if this Dublin can hold a lead unlike in 2006 I expect a nervous close affair but I think we are further down the road than this Mayo panel.

Where am i praising Mayo? Mayo fans gets their knickers in a twist by my lack of praise to them TBH unlike others i don't get caught up in their hype it's was the same in 2004,06 in the end they were out of their depth in the All Ireland finals v Kerry.
This semi final is Dublin's to lose however it's well known Dublin's form during the league was poor and they have carried it through to the championship the performances v Laois,Wexford,Meath won't be good enough to beat Cork or Donegal in the All Ireland final. Now if that's another riddle so be it i'm off to cook scrambled eggs.

I'm not going to keep repeating myself, all the evidence is in the above post, you have covered every angle possible bar Mayo lifting Sam, you'll be right.
My analysis is simple, we have progressed like no other county since that awful night in Longford in 2010. Horan has put balls into this Mayo team, i doubt very much we will ever be humiliated in Croke park or elsewhere under Horans reign.
How good are we, that remains to be seen and obviously Dublin will be the big test, it doesn't get much bigger than the Dubs in croke park for semi final(bar final).
We have been solid at the back, Keane,Caff, Higgans, Keegan, Vaughan, Boyle all playing top drawer, midfield has been top notch so far with BM picking up two motm performances so far out of three games, Dillon is playing the football of his life and lit Castlebar up last night with a dazzling display for Tubber,(note from that game Gibbons outshone BM) . McGloughlin is playing out of his skin.
We will miss Andy but that point has been exhausted at this stage, we have to dust down and get on with it and as someone said last week on MWR fm, the players will give an extra 5% each at least for andy, so it will galvanise team spirit too on the plus side, Andy will be with them the whole way, no "i" in Andy Moran , he is an absolute gent and great ambassodor for the game in general.
It will be a fascinating game and i am already looking forward to it and all the banter aside , look forward to experiencing an eletric atmosphere the Dubs bring with them.
Someone pointed out to me i made a contradiction in my prediction, that could be true in a way but i would be the first to admit i can change my mind now and again about the outcome of an upcoming Mayo match, more to with nerves than an actual contradiction.
I believe we can win and so should all supporters believe, i don't see the point in turning up otherwise, if we don't believe you can't expect the players to believe tbh, thats what being a supporter is all about surely.
