"Was that where he picked the ball off the ground and cost them the trophy?"

You want to be considered a credible poster with trot like this?

First off did you watch the game? He picked the ball off the ground for what would have been the equalising point, the gatekeeper said he carried them on his back and nearly done it on his own, clearly the two dont add up.
Secondly, if you quoted/read the rest of the point you quold see you took the sentence out of context. These are not the hallmarks of a credible poster...

I have been fortunate enough to have been at all Tyrone's AI finals - even the defeats. I was in the Canal end when Canavan clearly scooped a bobbling ball (4/5 inches off the ground) and laid off to Sean McLaughlin who put it between the posts to equalise. As much as there had been a great support for a capital win - TV analysts clearly supported it's validity. Curious as to why you don't.
I take issue with that point alone...I might be from Tyrone but don't subscribe to the views of all Tyrone posters. You and GK can continue your spat but you are 100% WRONG that Canavan picked the ball of the ground.

For the record - I think he's a fine player and have never knocked him. I don't subscribe to everything Brolly says as correct - he's Tyrone's second most ardent critic.
The questionable part of Cooper's greatness for me is when the chips are down can he turn a game around. It's that thing from having played the game to a high level where you look round when things aren't going well - who is going to turn the things around. You know how some players shine when you are on top but disappear in the white heat of battle. Truly great players are capable of this and do it when required if it doesn't come off them then they go down shooting to the death.
I don't have too many memories of Colin turning games around when Kerry looked down and out and that is probably the basic tenet of Brolly's argument (Besides mischief making).

Fair play to Donegal, what fantastic progress they've made, I hope they can get to the final this time (against Mayo as I said in another thread, for the novelty of it)

But this result doesn't vindicate Brolly of anything. Truth of the matter is he made a complete tool of himself on this one. He called Gooch a 'choker', a footballer who is undeniably one of the finest, if not the finest footballer of his generation - 4 league medals, 7 Provincial medals, 4 AI medals, 7 All Stars and a scoring record of what, 17-200 or soemthing like that? - is a record that speaks for itself and not one befitting of a 'choker'

But when confronted by this and asked to back it up, Brolly clearly ducked the question and then successfully convinced the lesser-minded of posters on this site that he was correct by diverting from a straight forward statement about 1 player to the Kerry team as a whole - and as we all know, no one player makes a team.

Now he may have been proven right about Kerry against Donegal but that does not detract from the attention-seeking, headline-grabbing stupidity of his statement about Colm Cooper, a statement he can't back up and never will, because he can't.

Perhaps when the surgeons get Ulsterman's head out of Brolly's backside, he might be able to see far enough to notice this. Anyone who thinks Cooper is a choker is an idiot. And anyone who thinks 1 result between 30 men on the pitch is a justification for such a ludicrous statement about 1 great player is firmly in tow

So Joe gets it right once again! In his newspaper column today he called this game to a tee and it panned out exactly as he predicted. In their pre-match analysis Spillane and O'Rourke called a Cork win while Michael Lyster, AGAIN, by passed Joe and didn't ask him who he thought would win. At half time Brolly pulled Lyster about that and said Donegal would win because Cork had given their all and were still behind at half time. Again he called the second half to a tee and everything he said would happen did happen. He said that Cork would start to tire after their first half efforts and Donegal would turn the ball over and get scores on quick counter attacks. Then they would play the game on their terms and at their pace. Despite Cork's goal at the end this is what panned out and, whether you like him or not, you have to give Brolly his dues as an analyst. He is the best, most informed and accurate commentator that RTE have and it's time that some ignorant, ill informed people with other agendas gave him his place and the respect he is long overdue.

Least his good at something, as a player in 93 final against Cork, he didnt touch the ball all day. Enda Gormley was their main man that day. So he slags Colm cooper watch the 09 final and see the amount of times the gooch had the ball that day.

So moomo all of a sudden you are claiming and lauding Donegal as part of the South? Funny that, most Donegal people will tell you they are the forgotten county in the 26 counties and no one south of Ballyshannon gives a damn about them. Maybe that's why they tell 6 county people they have more in common with them than the rest of the island.

Can't stand brolly but there is no doubting he knows his stuff. In fact there is only one time I can think of him calling it wrong. When he said Armagh would beat Fermanagh at a canter. Even at half time he said it and sure we all know how that finished up

It's called humour s goldrick have you heard of it? No! Maybe that's why The Savage Eye ripped the h*le out of Cavan all the time. So calling someone with an Irish passport and insisting they are British isn't racist????

It's a pity for your agenda that Donegal are freestaters.
