Omaghredhand and ros2013 cheers for the unbiased posts, we did well to come back today, maybe the line messed up a few times but Donegal deserved their win. As for ulsterman, I'd rather shove my thumb up my arse rather then respond to your usual bitterness. dubes (Kerry) - Posts: 69 - 05/08/2012 19:52:49 1239142 Link 0 |
Might be a while before Dublin win another one as well dubs hurling97! TheGateKeeper (Tyrone) - Posts: 2843 - 05/08/2012 20:01:05 1239159 Link 0 |
I disagree gatekeeper. The GAA will not help another county win an all Ireland like the way they help Dublin. Somehow they think Dublin winning al, Ireland's helps the GAA. 0305 (Tyrone) - Posts: 41 - 05/08/2012 20:14:05 1239182 Link 0 |
Yep J.Brolly is vindicated with his 1 single All Ireland Medal to pass judgement on the greatest player ever Gooch Cooper! Ciarrai Abu (Overseas) - Posts: 1050 - 05/08/2012 20:23:33 1239202 Link 0 |
haha Dublin didn't need any GAA intervention when we wiped the floor with you lads last year and I don't think there can be any complaints regarding who the ref was favouring that night , at the end of the day Dublin are in a semi final and Tyrone are out............... stekhli (Dublin) - Posts: 3121 - 05/08/2012 20:31:26 1239226 Link 0 |

The Gooch is a quality player. There is no doubting that but to call him the greatest ever would belittle past greats that have made our game stand the test of time. lomanaiochtabu (Tyrone) - Posts: 114 - 05/08/2012 20:59:28 1239277 Link 0 |
Ha ha, savage eyes rocks, so does Brolly, don't agree with him a lot but he's good TV! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8759 - 05/08/2012 21:08:21 1239291 Link 0 |
The history books will say Kerry lost by 2 points, but the goal which gave kerry the impetus was illegal it was a square ball. cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1688 - 05/08/2012 21:25:36 1239315 Link 0 |

Dubs hurling 7: what do you mean you don't like the way Donegal play football?; they are entitled to use whatever system they like once it get them success. They don't have the financial or playing resources the likes of Kerry, Cork or your own Dublin have, so more power to them and in Jim McGuinness they have a magnificent manager. I hope they go on to win the All-Ireland and if they do it will be a tremendous victory for the "small man" in such an inequitable system where the counties with the greater playing and financial resources tend to win out every year,. I am sick and tired at seeing the same old faces at "Up for the Game" every year. The current system is a form of sporting apartheid and I'm surprised the players have put up with it for so long. I admire the sheer skill and craft of Kerry but am glad they are out of it because they have had far too easy a run to many of their All-Irelands in the past, maybe (and not always) with just one serious team to beat before they got to an All-Ireland final, whereas the likes of the Leinster and Ulster teams had to go through several punishing games before they reached the same stage. No serious sport would run its competition the way the GAA does with inordinate gaps between games for some teams and only a week or two for others. Let's have some equality here! santiquattroeye (Wexford) - Posts: 13 - 05/08/2012 21:32:53 1239334 Link 0 |
Och stop talking sense cuchullain it'll only confuse some of them even more. Yes Brolly can grate a bit but 99% of the time he's bang on the money and very accurate in what he says. Today his newspaper column exactly predicted what would happen in this game and the lack of respect he gets from the wider GAA community and southern media is appalling. It comes down to the 'outside Nordie' syndrome that goes through a lot of their heads in which they refuse to accept or acknowledge that anyone 'not of the state', especially the rough Northern types, has a legitimate opinion on Gaelic games or Kerry. It's no surprise Joe is so good at this because he comes at these games with his analytical barrister head on. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9818 - 05/08/2012 21:36:31 1239346 Link 0 |
Well obviously peter canavan name comes up about great players but cooper has been judged on all irelands won and not lost that means canavan had two good years 2003 and'05 . if he was such a great player how come only two all irelands then. Also brolly mentioned cavanagh scoring 5 points in '08 but he is gone missing since too. So if anybody has a better player in the last ten years let us know cause i dont know anybody who has done what cooper has on the field. chicago09 (Kerry) - Posts: 694 - 05/08/2012 21:41:35 1239357 Link 0 |
well said brolly and it's no surprise it's the ulster counties that do it. you can add donegal to the list of tyrone, armagh and down. BettystownRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 3353 - 05/08/2012 21:42:25 1239360 Link 0 |

Colm McFadden was the main man today with a performance that will echo down the ages. He ceased the day and led his team from the front in a titanic struggle. It can be easy to look great when the opposition lie down in front of you and you can be a fancy dan but to perform when the pressure is highest and in a tight game that is where true greatness shines true.
