If we're not good enough to beat a Mayo team without Andy Moran then we've no business being in an all Ireland final.

Should be a close contest at the weekend. Its hard to call. I dont think mayo will miss moran as much as peolple think. Im expecting a low enough scoreing game as i expect mayo to be really defensive in the first half and draw dublin in and frustrate them and then pick off a few scores on the counter.
Mayo will be well fired up for it!

NavyNBlue, bang on the money. I read a lot of Dublin posters on here criticising Donegal people for saying they have already won Sam. Yet lots of Dubs are talking about there chances in the final. Excuse me but as you say Mayo will prove a very tough hurdle.
Initially when I heard about Andy Moran's injury I thought well that's the season over for the men in green and red. As time has passed I have had second thoughts, as much as he is key to the team I now have come to the conclusion that Mayo are far from a 1 man team. They may struggle to open up the Dubs without Andy at times but if O'Connor finds his form of last year and Dillon is on his game Mayo will be more than in this game.
They have a quality back line and the midfield has been a match for all when O'Shea and Moran have been paired together. Keep it up lads and Mayo may well do a Donegal and blow the big favs out of the water…… James Horan has done a great job with this Mayo team and they will not be turned over easily.
All the pundits have plumped for the dubs we know what happened last week when that happened….
The match will again be tight but I predict a 1/2 point victory for Mayo. I just feel it in my water. Mayo will love that the Dubs are talking about finals all ready.

I'd imagine a 5-6 point win for Mayo, this Dublin team still seems to have a hangover from last year! Take away the Brogans, and they're really only an average team.

Im not a big dub fan, but ROC, flynn, cullen, nolan, mc carthy. Hardly average.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dublin lost to Mayo. I think their hunger this year isn't on a parallel to what it was this time last year, they've been far from impressive and their finishing has been very poor. Then again they're coming into this game in the best possible scenario having not been outstanding in any game thus far with the exception of the Louth game which was hardly much of a contest to be fair. Dublin are very strong at the back but then again the Mayo defense are no slouchers either. If Alan Brogan plays and Bernard Brogan ticks, Dublin should see this out.

To the Dublin and Mayo fans here Ponder this So far this year the "best team in the history of football ever" have beaten - A woeful Down team, what proved to be an even WORSE Tyrone team, The worst Kerry team in living memory for a 33 year old, and Cork, who last year lost to.........Mayo....... And also remember that Dublin have beaten Donegal twice in 12 months......
Lads, heads up, chests out, this game this weekend will be a cracker and who ever wins, I sincerely hope they go on and win Sam and shock the entire country into silence by beating "the best team to ever play the game".....!!!

Liamwalkinstown - Mayo or Dublin will have no fear of Donegal.....its a final and a different kettle of fish. Mayo would have have the baggage of playing Donegal in a final and Dublin as you say beat them last year in the semi.
But lets get this weekend out of the way first - I am hoping we can pull it off but it will be some battle. The head still tells me Dublin but my heart alway's rules - Cmon Mayo.
P.S: It great to see the mostly friendly banter between the Dubs and Mayo this years on HS - in the past it often got poisonous to say the least.

_________
I'm sick of people saying this
What are you all basing this on ? Kilkenny win All ireland after All Ireland and nobody doubts their hunger , But because Dublin win one title their hunger looks different to last year. Its absolute total and utter Rubbish, The hunger of the Dublin footballers is no different to this time last year , The proof is in the pudding , That puddin being the fact we have been poor most of the year performance wise but winning games down to sheer hard work and determination.. Just like last year we want to progress past the semi final and win the All Ireland , It was the same last year, its the same now, And it will be the same next year.
Dublins players , And Inter county players in general show their hunger and their commitment by just running their backside off for 70 minutes , and the winter training sessions and early morning training sessions in some cases , You dont need to win an all ireland to prove a team in hungry or determined.. Maybe just maybe when a team is beaten it will be because the the opposition just played better that day, If Dublin lose on sunday you cant say its cause their hunger wasnt the same as last year , It will be because Mayo will have been the better team on the day and they will have deserved their victory.

Yew-Tree, if ye beat us I will be roaring for ye in the final, guaranteed. I have always liked Mayo, may not have liked some of the fans from time to time, but Mayo have always played football the way it should be played and in Ciaran McDonald ue produced along with Tomas O'Se and Geezer one of my all time favourite non Dub footballers.
One my earliest football memories is being out the back pretending I was Gabriel Irwin about to face a penalty from John O'Driscoll from Cork!!!

Best team in the history of the game..? Somewhere Pat Spillane is convulsing uncontrollably..
They are far from the flamboyant, aristocratic and sublimely skilled teams of the past. What they are is the most immovable object gaelic football has ever seen.

Exactly sure what is there to fear ?
The only team that have beaten Donegal since their 2010 campaign ended in disaster was Dublin , No reason why if Dublin get to the final they wouldnt beat Donegal , The have the players , they have the hunger , they have the fitness to compete with donegal , and they have the experience of playing in and winning a final..
Mayo meanwhile will under james horan , Also have the players with the hunger to win the all ireland , they are super fit too and they would go into the game as underdogs which they should thrive on
Donegal are a fantastic side with some very good players , But they're beatable , i would expect Dublin or Mayo to beat Donegal to be honest , I was at the game on sunday and They are certainly beatable

Last year they were like rabid wolves. Dispatching Kildare easily with 14 men in the Leinster semi final, demolishing Tyrone with the "perfect performance", seeing out Donegal in the last 10 minutes through a greater intensity and endeavor. In the AI final they persevered in the last 10 minutes to get the goal and eventually win the game possibly because their "will to win" or "hunger" was greater then that of Kerry's. I'm sure Kerry were hell bent on beating Dublin that day but it meant way more to Dublin then to Kerry.
This year they haven't produced the same level of quality in their performances and yes you are right they are still winning games. But, who the hell have they beaten this year..? Louth, Wexford, Meath and Laois.. these are hardly teams that you could call world beaters and yet they have been largely unimpressive against all bar Louth. My point is maybe having won the All-Ireland last year, maybe the same level of desire is not there with them this year because they certainly haven't shown their intent so far.

Tough one to call, I have fancied Mayo to win this but now I am not so sure. Usually it's the Dubs who are overhyped and the centre of the media storm but Donegal may have taken some heat off them in this respect and that may go in Dublin's favour. They have been pretty ordinary this year and may now play without the big expectation. Mayo looked good against a very, very poor Down side so it's a 50/50 game; the crowd may swing it Dublin's way.
