the reason it was replayed on the big screen was because it wasn't a contentious score. it was clearly a point. how on earth the umpires and ref thought it was wide is beyond me. correct decision was made regardless how it was achieved. pat mcenaney knew he made the wrong call for benny coulter's goal against kildare because he seen the replay as he was running back to the centre but he didn't change his mind. he should have. common sense should always prevail. anyway why can't there be a top crossbar and a point net in gaa. imo if the ball goes too high over the posts it shouldnt be a point anyway. they should lower the height and put a second net to catch the points. more skillful than balooning theball up in the air . when i was reffing if the ball was too high i would just wave it wide. goiod enough for them, teach them to keep it lower the next time

The umpire was giving the point, it was the ref said it was wide.
The linesman advised the ref it was a point and he reversed his own decision, wow.

Yes- that is the solution to inconsistent refereeing and controversial decisions. Let the referees make up their own rules. Can't see any potential problems with that.

were talkin about an amateur sport here snapper! cusack park doesnt have a big screen like many other grounds around the country but yet tipp and down meet there this weekend, do u think its fair on either team that theres no big screen to correct any bad decisions by officials?! BULL****!!! ITS NOT IN THE RULES SO IT CANNOT BE USED! GAA CAN NOT GO DOWN THIS ROAD, IT WOULD BE A NIGHTMARE! ive been to croke park many times in recent years and always taught controversial incidents were not allowed to be replayed on the big screen! why were the rules changed for a dublin match?!

I see our president has no problem with refs using the big screen....interesting, looks like the door for video evidence has been opened.
