Kildare vs Cavan

Suncroft does certainly not share my views in relation to Cavan nor other matters either. He has probably never been there. Bet he never drank in 'The Mucky Duck'.

Very tough game in store for Kildare, Cavan will be all fired up and also have some very good players in Niall McDermott and Corr the midfielder. We had a very bad day against Meath, the 6 backs came 2nd in their individual duals but it aint too often that happens and I still think a full back line of Kelly, Foley and McGrillen is among the best out there. Would like to see Rob Kelly partner Flynn next Sunday, we struggled against Conor Gillespie last Sunday and Cavan have 2 good midfielders, so this will be a key area. I cannot figure out what 6 forwards I would like, apart from Tom O Connor they were all poor enough against Meath, Smith improved after half time but was poor in first half, Kavanagh and Eoin Flaherty are struggling at the moment. JD had a poor outing against Meath, but a 2 hour training session the day before the game wouldn't have helped him. Leper will come in to the starting team and maybe Podge Fogarty, who could play alongside O Connor. Big ask to start Seanie against Cavan, but then again if he is fully committed to Kildare this could be the game to shut up all his critics within the County. Cavan have great support and they will fully get behind their team, I am a little worried about this game but I hope Kildare can go out and show people that they are still a force to be reckoned with and are much better than their performance against Meath.

Don't know what to think about this match, after all our climb up the ladder started with a last minute win against Cavan a few years back. Hope it doesn't end with a loss this time. As regards the starting team I hope Geezer gives Rob Kelly the nod for midfield with Flynn and that Eamonn Callaghan starts. We seem to struggle for dirty ball in mid-field any time Leper isn't playing. Also Eoghan O'Flaherty had poor games in the last two outings but I expect he'll turn in a good shift this time. I would also like to see Podge Fogarty starting and feeding off Tomas O'Connor instead of Jimmers. Hopefully the extra week will give Johnny a chance to recharge his batteries and come back with the kind of performance that he is capable of. Finally I hope that Seanie Johnston doesn't play and so leaves the media with nothing to write about.

Indeed conleth would love another meeting with the old men of kildare. It be funny to see how slow they are again.
Just accept it meath have stepped it up. Kildare have transferred in player who the manager won't even play even though he is by far the best player he has.
Mickey mouse or what? Enjoy your travels around ireland (if you get another one). While we concentrate on a leinster final.
Who are ya?

Come on suncroft. How many cavan players would make it into kildare team? Apart from the one you already poached?

Seanie J wouldn't even make it into our starting team. This is why so many people hate Meath fans. They beat Kildare once after 5 attempts and yet they think they are a better team now. If we are going by this, then Limerick are better than Kerry.

I think you'll find your on a looser there AGAIN suncroft, seannie is by far the best player kildare have. That's why kildare insulted hurling to make sure he was available for dublin in leinster final , well that backfired spectacularly on every count.
And I'm afraid we have lost the most hated tag to kildare. What's funny is we were hated because of our success which meant we didn't care. Kildare don't even have that. You'll be waiting another 80+ years and on top of that kmcg is heading home.

In fairness apart from Johnny D, Seanie is a more natural and accurate forward than the rest of the Kildares. If he was actually from Kildare he would be the first on the teamsheet for every game.

I'll admit, he is probably our most natural forward that we have got. Seanie doesn't have to think about what he is going to do next, and he doesn't have to force what he does next! It just comes natural to him, he gets the ball, turns, shoots without looking up, score.

Why is it that when Kildare pull a stroke and put Seanie on in a hurling match, it is seen as cynical but if Kerry did it you would be all saying that was cute ?.

If it was Dublin, Cork or Kerry who done this there would not be a quarter of the fuss being made.

Royaldunne, why dont you grow up. The game and the slagging is now over. Meath were the better team and the genuine Kildare fans have acknowledged that. Meath have some fine young players and young Conor Gillespie gave an master class in midfield play. Move on and concentrate on the Dublin game, rather than slagging off Kildare, it supporters and if I am not mistaken you said seeing John Doyle in tears after the Down game 3 years ago was a highlight for you. That is just sad.

RoyalDunne's team fairly beat us, but he is still talking about Kildare 24/7 while we have turned our attention to the Cavan game. It's a bit sad when you have a Leinster Final coming up in just over 2 weeks time against Dublin, yet all you can speak about is Kildare and Seanie Johnston.

Grow up.

You see the thing is Kerry wouldn't do what Kildare have done with the whole Seanie saga.

Cavan slasher
"Why would he worry as he is a very good footballer? He transferred because he was no longer part of the Cavan set-up and was told so. Did you expect him to sit at home or give up altogether?"

Yes! Coz that is what 99% of gaa players would do! What's Kevin Cassidy doing at the moment? What's Micky Lyng or Dermot Sheridan doing??

Better still throw in a few guys from meath, anthony moyles works in dublin and played his club football there for the best part of his inter county career he had legitimate calls to transfer but didn't, even after banty dropped him. Or even better still pedaer byrne, dropped by banty and not on the best of terms, no where near the panel this year then because of his ability played his way back into panel, has came on in 2 games scored 3 goals.
That's what seannie should have done.
As for any comments re me and kildare , ? We have won it fairly and squarely end of ill agree. But for the rubbish we had to listen to about non of our players getting near kildare team etc, what a load of bull and let's be honest not all but majority said it be at least 5+ or 10+ win. We are entitled to throw a little back.

Cavan folk haven't been this excited since electricity reached them! Just shows how far down they are in terms of football when they only get excited when an ex player of theirs could line out against them. Grow up will ye!

not true. most Cavan people are looking forward to the game to see how their young team can perform against one of the top sides in the country. in truth the SJ thing is an un-welcome distraction. just have a look at the cavan page sometime and see how passionate we are about football ... plenty of excitement there about everything from under 14 to ladies football, minor,under-21, club championship and leagues etc etc. The SJ thing is something different. In truth we would all wish to see him doing well with Kildare (just not against us).

Seanies participation is in doubt now due to a shoulder injury.
