Cill Dara v An Mhi

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Well done to our Meath neighbours on a great performance and win, your younglads did really well, particularly nos 2 & 5 as well as Gillespie, Carroll and G Reilly, Meath played the smarter football and took their chances better, some old failings came back to haunt kildare, no coonviction in front of the posts, sideline were poor as well, We are capable of better and hopefully we will come back stronger, The SJ cloud hanging over the team could not have helped at all and drawing Cavan away things aren't likely to improve on that front, we just have to get on with it and try and fight our way back into the latter stages.

On a different note Well done to the Rossies on a great win against Armagh

They still didn't apologise clondalkin. I'm very disappointed, luckily when I get home ill stick on the match and it will make me feel better lol.
I had a fair idea of how this was going to pan out. But even I didn't think we would out point kildare. I was hoping the young lads would have a couldn't care less attitude and that's what they did but I was also afraid they might freeze on the big stage, croker is entirely different to tullamore or carlow but delighted they didn't.
Want to say 1 guy from kildare dingus was very gracious and fair play to him he didn't really take the banter from me that seriously. And again best of luck to kildare in back door. They will still reach qf , but if anything comes out of yesterday for them it should be mcgeeney needs to take a step back and not be a one man manager , ask for advice but better still head advice.
I'm also sick of this love in.
So how many times will stephen pick the ball out of the net this time? Hahaha
.
Only taking the mick clondalkin. I just want meath to give dublin a game and come out with our heads held high and a belief that we are getting back to top.
I don't think we will win but I live in hope that this time I'm wrong.
Hon the royal

They will reach the qf as long as they avoid Kerry and Tyrone. Tell me this rd did all them kids for Meath play in the league?

Well played Meath excellent display given the abuse they have taken and how poor they were in Omagh. Meath must be one of the best for bouncing back and proving people wrong.

clondalkindub Meath will definitely be in the QF not sure about Dublin Facing
Kerry or Tyrone after losing to Meath would be a tough one for the Dubs

Damien Carroll and Donal Keoghan didn't play in the league or the O'Byrne Cup. Keoghan only came on against Wicklow because Kenny went off injured and has now made corner back position his own.
Donnacha Tobin, Menton and Forde did play a good bit in the league.
There is another young lad Mark Collins who we could also see before the summer is out, didn't play in the league but played against Wicklow and came on against Carlow. They say he is the new Trevor Giles, I don't know much about him.
Then there is young Lenehan who had to be taken off v Kildare because of his yellow. He didn't really get any game time this year but was one of our best players in Navan v Kildare last year. All these lads are only 20/21, I think someone said Forde is only 19 so it will be a big ask the next day against the Dubs, hopefully they will be up for it!

Hard luck to Kildare yesterday, I think the heavy favourites tag and SJ saga really effected the teams performance yesterday but having said that I was very impressed with our young lads. I got this one all wrong, I thought going in against a tough team like Kildare would prove a hurdle too far for them but they were excellent, Gillespe and Carroll in particular.

As for Kildare, well a lot of people believe them to be over hyped but whatever you believe they certainly aren't as bad as they performed in the last 10mins or so yesterday (I know unfairly being a man down didn't help) and I think a lot of people know this. If McGeeney can re-instill the hunger and believe then there's no reason why Kildare can't still make a QF at least this year.

Finally, next up for our lads the Dubs, bring it on, UP THE ROYALS!!!

Tobin had a few appearances in league, menton did play, carroll did not neither did forde start, forde played in obyrne, keoghan wasn't even on panel until later stages, gillespie was on and off mostly on bench,
I actually think the kids gave the kick in the ass the older guys needed. And I know on hear someone said about the older players playing well and included graham reilly as a older player , easy mistake to make as he been on panel since 10 but actually he is still only 22/23.
I want to say one thing that has bugged me since 2010, GRAHAM REILLY not only deserved but rightfully earned a all star that year and because of what happened in final was over looked. It was a disgraceful omission, and one this year I sincerely hope is rectified. He has to be nailed on for one as it stands and with at least another 2 games I'm sure he will enhance his rightful claims.
Just something that's annoyed me for a while. I know its off topic and a bit away but wanted to just put it out there.

If we are lucky. But really a Leinster is all we could have hoped for this year, if we caught the Dubs on the hop. But Meath completely destroyed us, and it should have been a 10 points+ victory. It really shows how limited our pool of players is. The qualifiers is pointless for us this year, we have as much a chance of an all ireland as westmeath and cavan have. The season is over.

Yes agree with you Royaldunne. Reilly is outstanding really strong and so accurate and deserves an allstar. The funny thing about him yesterday is that he wasn't even on the ball that much at all and still ended up with three points from play!

Yep classapart 100% agree. I think he got 4 maybe 5 shots on goal and 2 of them fair distance out. Got 3 points and fisted to net unlucky not to go over bar.
I do think he is a outstanding talent and last year was injured with a back problem. Let's pray he stays sound.

Once Meath are involved, it always has to be either a Louth, Mayo or Cork person that would come out with that. Thanks for your contribution to the topic.

Sorry don't mean ALL of those supporters, not painting everyone with the same brush. Louth were very unlucky this year in the Championship, difficult first game, players injured, emmigrating and then the manager in hospital. Its amazing how things have turned out so differently for us since you beat us in Navan in April. You have div 2 football to look foward to next spring. We are down in div 3 and knowing Meath and the league we could be still there the following year!

Doublehop. Do you think I got the match pretty much spot on? Or not?
Clondalkin. Just a question how bad do you think the slagging I would have got if the scores were reversed?
I think I've been very magnanimous in victory apart from one rant. Doubt I would have received the same lol.
But kildare are off the menu now. Bigger fish to fry and all that.
