i'll be very surprised and indeed gutted to be honest if kildare don't pulverize what is a shambles of a county team...............meath are in division 3 ffs...........they are clearly on a race to the bottom tier of the nfl and if kildare can't have these hasbeens of a county battered into submission at the end of the first half i'll be very disappointed with kildare...............the true extent of how poor meath really are will be visible to all on sunday...........they've beaten wicklow and carlow to date and for some bizaar reason lots of royal fans think meath are leinster championship contenders...............well let me say this.....you people are clearly gone off your rocker.................kildare are eons ahead of meath..........the winning margin should easily be 10 points at the end but dont be one bit surprised if its actually double that.....meaths final score will not even reach double figures...........many of their supporters will have left and at home long before the game comes to an end

Well Emmet Bolton will hardly play in midfield anyway!

Think he's there to curb the amout of running graham Reilly does.
Reilly will have to spend as much time going back towards his own goal as will going forward. Would imagine thats the thinking behind it.

Paidi into midfield with Bolton moving back into the halfback line and Eoin Doyle moving into the forwards would seem like the obvious changes there.

Can't imagine that'll be the team that starts though, bound to be at least one change to it.

Jinxie is right I'd say, Bolton is their to curb Reilly's influence and to keep him busy as much going backwards as getting forward, I would imagine Flynn will come into midfield at some stage and Dermot Early also making good progress

Said it here before, if Graham Reilly is in midfield Johnny is the man for him. Best engine on the team will at the very least match Graham for pace but will outfield him as well. Will still contribute to the scoreboard.

A bit more discussion on the actual match and the players involved would serve this forum a lot better than the slagging matches and mud slinging that you have to wade through before finding something relevant to the game

If that were the team then the plan would be the same as the last time. If one the backs get forward then Eoin Doyle will drop back into the half-back line as cover. P.O'Neill and Rob Kelly will be midfield. However as I said on the Kildare page I think Callaghan will get the nod ahead of him on the day and Flynn will be very close to starting also.

Morgan O'Flaherty and Ollie Lyons role behind the midfield will be crucial for the breaks. Morgan was very effective in most Croke Park games as sweeper last year. Eoin Doyle may be given a half but i could see Eamonn Callaghan getting 30 mins or so to push up if necessary.

By all accounts Doyle will start in midfield (JD that is).

We should all know by now not to take much heed of teams named for the programme. Like to see Leper getting a run on Sunday if he's fit.

Kildare (SFC v Meath ) - Shane Connolly, Hugh McGrillen, Michael Foley, Peter Kelly, Eoin Doyle, Morgan O'Flaherty, Ollie Lyons, Emmet Bolton, Robert Kelly, James Kavanagh, Mikey Conway, Padraig O'Neill, John Doyle, Tomás O'Connor, Eoghan O'Flaherty.

thats the kildare team named for sunday but as usual with McGeeney willthis be the real line out, he quiet ofetn makes changes before throw in there is a very strong panel to choose from and any one of them will give 100% on the day.

I am absolutely disgusted by this post, coming on here insulting a team like that. We are going to stick behind our team because we are proper sports people but your clearly not! coming on her shooting your mouth off. People need to learn to have a bit of respect and stop going overboard. B

Kildare never hammer Meath, so 1-2 in it until Kildare get a late goal to Kill it off by 5 !

I reckon its gonna be tight. The league match this year is the most relevant piece of form. I know Meath were subsequently relegated and Kildare were promoted. However, I really feel the improvement in performance V's Carlow has brought back the bit of confidence that was lacking in all the latter league games. Meath/Kildare are always tight enough anyway and I think/hope Meath have turned a corner and will be well prepared for Kildare.
If Meath can get off to a decent start and maybe hammer home home a goal of two it will really breathe life into the team and we could go on and pull out what would be, a great win - a la Dublin 2010. However, more likely to happen is for the game to be pretty tight throughout before Kildare pull away in the last 10 to win by 4-6.
Finally on Graham Reilly, I don't think he has the stamina to track back enough with a Kildare midfielder (or Bolton). I've noticed it before, he is great going forward but poor tracking back. He could be better suited to a wing forward berth, with Peadar Byrne replacing him to leave a midfield partnership of Meade and Byrne (providing Meade is fit). Maybe start him in MF and asses the situation but that's how I think it will transpire.

Last word from me (at least) on the Seanie Johnston Affair the reason why Kildare posters against the whole thing have stopped posting is because of people like Royaldunne who would turn anybody's head.
Finally have a look at Daragh O'Sé's article in the Irish Times in which he makes some very good points http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0627/1224318804363.html

Kildare team seem good. Doubt if it one that starts.
But still confident of meath victory.

You doubt it will be the one that starts?

What players do you think will be dropped from it and who do you think will come in?

Honestly jinxie I'd leave doyle to come in as sub (eoin). And if he is fit enough I'd start earley. Depending on his fitness. If he is fit I'd play him.

Id be shocked and dissapointed in McGeeny if he started Earley. No doubting the mans ability and what he's given to Kildare for years, but I dont even think Kildare fans would feel he deserves to slot straight back into midfield just like that. Certainly couldnt see it myself anyway.
