Will Wicklow beat Meath?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Have no opinions on Carlow to be honest but the facts are Meath will be favourites. However I was at the Kildare-Offaly match in the O'Byrne Cup earlier this year when we were 10 points to no score up at half time and considering how close both sides were to their first teams that day (theirs very close, ours not at all) if we lose to them in a few weeks I will be absolutely shocked.

Freaky prediction there jim any chance of lotto no's ??
I think a team who started with 5 or more players missing from starting 15 to produce such a die hard performance was very uplifting and indeed keeps the future looking bright for the royal.
Graham reilly is a sublime talent and showed it again today his pace is astonishing, a real gem. Motm easily. Well done graham great to see you back at your very best. Banty and graham both said after match we will look no further than carlow. We will treat them with the respect they deserve. If we win we will then discuss opposition. Well done again to a great traditional meath performance and we shall look forward to carlow in tullamor

C'mon the ROYAL

Those numbers were lucky for me.

Work out the pattern and I'll give you the euromillions for Tuesday night!

Well now clondalkin firstly we have carlow but his performance today was as good as I've seen since when he first arrived in 10. So can only go on opposition he faced today and he was sublime.

Good win for Meath. Thye needed that, Banty sounded like a man who got a double helpin gof apple pie in the post match interview. I think Meath have enough to beat Carlow. And if they get their walking wounded back could give Kildare and good rattle, maybe even beat them if Kildare have one of their meltdowns similar to the one against Galway.

Whats the status on Seamus Kenny's injury?

Unfortunately bludubstar it didn't look too good, hopefully its just a sprain or bruising as we can't keep adding to injury list. Good news is that paddy gill was on subs bench today so hopefully he is nearly there. Let's hope our injured get back soon then we will see what we can do this year. But overall happy with win and in particular some performances.

Well done to the Meath morons who were blowing the horns as we were taking frees.

Funny I'm sitting here with about 10 Meath lads and a few Wicklow heads who never heard your 'horns' only horn I heard was when David Gallagher was kicking out the ball in the first half... So good man with your so called morans! I'm sure even if there was horns they wouldn't effect wicklows effortless free taking :)

Not a shock result anyway. We all know of Meath's relegation during the league but we wll know teams are a different animal come championship and they proved it yesterday

Am I the only One on here who thought the standing off of Stafford was a joke?

I'm still not sure what he was sent off for.
If it was for the little tap in the stomach sure Forde barely even noticed it and just carried on walking.

apparantley he was sent off for complaining to the offical that meath handled the ball on the ground that with the first yellow.. that armagh ref i believe has a history of sending off players.

Didn't think he deserved to be sent off for that. Now the tackle or rather cynical foul on graham reilly was a sending off offense. The ref was poor all round blowing for over carrying. Ball on ground 4 players (2 each) on top of it some how after about 20 seconds it emerged he never blew for throw up until ball was free then decided to call game back for throw up. Had a bad day all round to be honest. Thankfully it was just he was poor so both sides suffered and not just one. Sort of evened it out. But poor ref.

Royaldunne, we're well used to Mr Hughes this year. Of the 8 games we've played this year between league and championship he has reffed 4 off them. It seems a bit odd that a particular ref would get to ref the same county soo often in a relatively short period of time. Yes he gave the Wicklow midfielder a card for complaining about a pick-up from the ground which from where I was sitting looked like a wrong decision and I thought the free should have went to Wicklow. The second yellow came for a lunge at Forde after he collected the ball. The highlights on telly don't show the incident great from the angle of the camera but from where I was sitting in the stand the Wicklow lad missed Forde but the intent was definitely there. He did have a go at Forde just after the incident but Forde provoked that as much as anything else and sensibly just walked away. The challenge on Graham Reilly looked a more cynical tackle.

Petty sending off, bit of an unjust day for Stafford rounded off with Parkinson unfairly calling him a one-trick-pony on the Sunday Game.

different animal !!!!!..............i don't think meath would have beaten any other county in leinster with there performance yesterday............wicklow didn't provide much resistance really.............overall it was a poor game...........of course meath will be happy with the win but deep down they'll know yesterdays performance wouldn't be near good enough against one of the stronger teams in leinster..............overall i don't think meath have improved anything from the league to be honest.......

Oh shock horror, Gammy features derides Meath again, we know they have to improve but at least they are in a position to do so which may be more that can be said for your precious Wee County after next Sunday, as a matter of interest were you at the game or are you basing your expert analysis on the 10 minutes of highlights shown Sunday night. I doubt that you would pay €10 in to watch a team you loathe so much

Our friend Derry-Led who set up this thread hasn't been on yet. I wonder why? Perhaps he is waiting to set up a similar thread for the Carlow game.
