Will Wicklow beat Meath? NO, infact I predict an emphatic Meath win. No disrespect to the Wickla boys.

While everyone outside of Meath would like to see a Wicklow win, the stats say otherwise.
Go to PP with a ball of money.
Put it on Meath (-4 pts) @ 13/10.
Watch it grow.

It will be a close game and hard to predict. Which Meath Team will turn up? The one thing which IMO will suit Meath is Wicklows Style of long ball play. We usually struggle against the running handpassing teams and going by what I saw of Wicklow in the Div 4 final the don't play this style. They might adapt such tactics for sunday but we'll have to wait and see.

I think it's fair to say that most neutrals will be supporting Wicklow maroon2gold, we don't have a problem with that but I also think a lot of neutrals are miss guided tipping us to win, especially at -4 given the season and infighting so far this year. I really hope the players can stand up and be counted and respond to all the criticism they've gotten this year (a lot of it warrented) but I don't just don't have faith in them to dig in and fight like our teams of old, we have gone soft!

I think that Wicklow's defensive set up will be different from their League campaign possibly employing a sweeper system.

For starters, why is this game been played in Carlow? Why not Aughrim or Navan? Why did Longford receive home advantage last weekend against Laois? On what basis do the Leinster GAA Council decide these venues?

I would love to know the same.

Firstly, Ive no problem with DCP at all.
But how do the Leinster council select venues?

In 08, we played Wexford in Carlow. Hardly half way. Even this game would prob have been better suited to Tullamore or maybe portlaoise.
But why not have home/away games for all games up to Semi's. (excluding Dubs maybe due to attendance.

In 2010 we played Offaly in Portlaoise. Meath support had to travel through Offaly to get to the game, where as for most Offaly people it was just over the road for them.
Why not play it in Mullingar. That seems more balanced for both sets of supporters.

They always seem to have strange choices.

I think certain counties make arrangements with each other to play fixtures on a rotating home-away basis. Longford played Laois in Portlaoise last year, didn't they? Most Leinster and Ulster matches are played in neutral venues. Nearly all matches in Munster and Connaght do it the other way. Or maybe I'm way off...

Yeah your right about the Home and away arrangments between counties, but Id rather it was directed and managed by Leinster council.

Either apply it to all counties, or play all in Nuetral venues.

Personally I don't think anywhere in Leinster is too far to travel to but I just think it's a bit odd that they selected Carlow as a neutral meeting point when it borders Wicklow whereas Meath fans like myself have to travel 60miles to get there and I'm one of the lucky ones because I live near the M50. I'd imagine fans living around Oldcastle and the likes are going to have some trek, so would Parnell Park or Newbridge not have been a lot fairer.

Thats exactly my point.
Like I said, ive no problem with DCP. Play it below in Wexford for all I care, but its the fact that there are venues in between both counties that are better as a midway point and seem fairer on both sets of fans.

Parnell park would have been the obvious choice. Halfway between both counties. I know Wicklow played Louth there in a Championship replay in 2007. When was the last time Meath played a championship game there?

Yes, what a great idea. Everybody loves an empty stadium, nothing better for generating an athmosphere than an echo..

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the closest part of meath to carlow would be ballinabrackey which is app 45m and varying from there to 80+ miles in other parts depending on routes taken. If I'm correct the majority of wicklow fans would be within 40m of carlow town. Now ok they are those who be further but then they are others who this is a very close venue . So can't understand it. Its not mid way. Mid way would be tullamor or mullingar. Both would easily accommodate the expected crowd. Plus the finest stadium outside croke pk in leinster portlaois? Don't figure.

No.

I Can't see it now meself. Meath will have far too much for them. I'd love to see Wicklow put it up to them in an exciting game , But i can only see a meath onslaught.

Whats the story with parking around DCP, I've been down there a few times by bus but never had the car down so is parking a problem or is it ok?

It depends on which way you enter area. Parking was awkward for match against wexford few years back. Hopefully some fields or areas around it will be opened up or maybe its improved.
