Not panelists fav player of match lol. Players etc. Guys doing interviews about bad crowds. Stupid.
And des is good on radio not tv.
My panel would be anchored by michael lyster , panel for football. Mick o'dwyer sean boylan. And. Ciaran whelan. Managers who know how to win and a player who knows his stuff. I personally never thought that anyone ever came near enda colleran as a pundit

Shouldn't really compare with soccer but have heard Brian Kerr a few times this season on today fm and his research is impeccable . Everything he says is backed up with evidence and he tells you things you don't know . Not lazy throw away comments like everyone who goes to Australia comes back a better player which was stated last night .

Agree with a lot of whats being said here.
The panel needs a change up.
Maybe it will take an Andy Gray / Richard Keyes type scandal to get some fresh faces on.
In my opinion the punditry has become lazy. The fact that Dan Shanahan did a little cameo anchor role on the Waterford/Limerick game meant that the pundits had to spend little or no time discussing this game. I find McStay & Davis especially guilty of a lack of knowledge regarding teams from below the top 2 divisions.
Good point too about Brian Kerr, he definitely knows his stuff. I remember watching him on Sky Sports News around the time of the draw for the Euro's and his knowledge of the European club & international scene had the others dumbfounded. Punditry these days is just a case of rehashing the same old one-liners week after week and name-dropping the odd player, usually one stand out player from a weaker team that everyone knows.

Des comes across as uninterested and incompetent in my opinion. Agree mcstay and davis same old same old. Dolan should keep to the football. It is thrown out just cause it has worked before but for last couple of years it has been terrible. Need a clean out of panel. And show us what we want games at least 10 minutes each. When there is only 4 or 5 matches on. No stupid fav players etc. Pointless.

Ha ha, he's a bit or an anchor alright....
I think its more about the way he puts his questions and comments across. Ive know doubt about his huge interes in GAA. But when he's asking a question, or making a comment, he has this look of wonderment on his face and talks as if he doesnt even understand what he's saying himself.
But I think its more a case of his way of coming across rather than a lack of interest of anything like that.

I still think The Sunday Game is ahead of anything TV3 or BBC have to offer, have to agree that the Championship on BBC was truly awful and I felt sorry for Oisin McConville having to work beside that commentator. Des Cahill has a great interest in GAA but he is not suited for television in my opinion, like him or hate him but I actually enjoyed Spillane when he was presenting the evening show, Daragh Maloney would be another contender to freshen things up. I noted Martin McHugh was on BBC this weekend to so he must be double jobbing, missed Brolly this weekend to, again like Spillane you either love him or hate him t at least he livens things up a bit, great clip on the intro of the Brolly is a tool banner with an umbrella replacing Joe

Am I the only one who likes RTÉ's coverage? Brolly, Spillane, O' Rourke you can't beat them. About 11 All Ireands between them. If that doesn't qualify them to give an opninion I don't know what does. Who would the people giving off about the coverage have in instead of them?

Agreed. Some of the segments were absolute cheddar cheese. Cringe! What was that Dan Shanahan bit about? I actually didn't mind the Donie Shine bit although they should maybe change that bit into a "County Cult Hero" segment or something. A short clip remembering a past fans' favourite from one of the particpating teams or something like that.

McConville sounded like Father Stone from Father Ted on the BBC coverage. Christ that was woeful. In fairness to the two lads it wasn't exactly typical Ulster Championship intensity but still. They sounded like they were at a pitch opening. Couldn't find the clip but one of the enduring memories from last summer for me was Sidebottom and Canavan's commentary of the closing stages of the Donegal Kildare match. It was totally biased towards the Ulster team admittedly but they got the intensity and intrigue spot on. If I can find a clip of it online I'll post it up.

O' Rourke is the only pundit worth listening to if your interested in un biased honest knowledgeable comment. John Doyle will make a great pundit when the time comes. But not just yet. There's a Dublin boy out there Coman Goggins knows his stuff and Oisin McConville is very decent as well. These boys are the future.

Coman already works for TG4. He is good, knows his stuff but is not opinionated enough. McConville is boring in my opinion.

http://www.facebook.com/#!/TheSundayGame?rf=112090365470430 Maybe post some comments on their facebook page lads.I know they might not take action but at least if enough people air their views on their page about how completely lazy & stale they have become, then you never know they might take action. If people want to also leave comments about getting some hot women to present tweets or just look pretty like the Sky Sports News women,by all means please do.

Who would you replace Marty with, Diego?? Be careful what you wish for. I really don't see where you are finding problems with RTÉ's coverage. What daft things did Marty say Diego?

1177550 Try watching BBC NI's coverage of the Ulster Championship, now that REALLY is awful! Mark Sidebottom is a horrendous commentator, with his up-and-down accent and his lack of understanding of basic GAA rules. His poor side kick Oisin McConville has to race to make a point before 'Marvelous Mark' shouts over him with irrelevant dribble. When a player hits a shot he decides to unleash this groan until he's sure of the outcome, instead of just doing himself and the rest of us a favor and taking a silent breath. If this is an attempt by the BBC to keep the viewer ratings down so they can eventually scrap the program then all's going according to plan id say!

Lol, i couldnt agree more. I found myself putting my TV on mute to avoid having to listen to sidebottom. Its like he is commentating on a horse race, he never shuts up for one minute, talking complete horse manure. In my opinion Mark Sidebottom would ruin even the most exciting of games. He comes out with some really irratating phrase's that just sound stupid. Oisin not too bad, one tone and one gear but sure he's not the worst

kevin mcstay loves it when a new rule is introduced you can see him get all giddy because he gets to read it out and thinks he is the only one who understands the rules
