As the championship kicks off in earnest. What teams or management are under the most pressure to deliver?

Certain amount of pressue on the teams from last year that performed aboce expectations, namely Dublin to retain the crown, and Mayo and Donegal to repeat their relatively successful years. But for me, it has to be on Kieran McGeeney to deliver a Leinster at least

Meath - Pressure out of deperation.
Kildare - Pressure out of expectancy
Dublin - First time in years there will be very little pressure from withing the county

Geezer will be with Kildare for another two years no matter what we win. He's brought a lot to Kildare and as such has the support of the vast majority of the supporters. The team at this stage want to deliver, for themselves and supporters. We're not a fickle lot in Kildare so no pressure on Geezer or the team, the supporters will remain loyal. The only ones insisting Kildare or Geezer need to deliver are outside the county and the team know this too.

Think Meath and Banty under pressure along with McNulty.

Don't see how any pressure can be on either meath or banty. I don't think anyone expects meath to win a trophy this year. So no pressure at al imo. Banty has to be the manager with least to loose. I'd have to say it has to be mcgeeney without a doubt has to at least win leinster.

Have to agree with OLLIE, Banty is a dead man walking regardless what happens, anything less than the Delaney Cup one would question has McGeeney brought the KIldare team as far as he can? If both Dublin and Kildare get to the final will Kildare coming out on the loosing side it be will be a painful loss.

Jason Ryan will be feeling the pressure, thats one county along with Louth I'd love to see winning some silverware.

ALTHOUGH THIS THREAD IS TARGETED AT KILDARE ROYAL ;) WE ALL KNOW IT IS ill give my two cents.
justin nc nulty has to be after yesterday but if laois put in a good run in the qualifiers might ease that if they dont who knows.
banty -not only is the pressure on for meath to be competitive again he's trying to keep his job.
pat gilroy - although the pressure may have eased somewhat from last year it will be up to pat to get them motivated to prove it wasnt a once off and at least make a quarter/semi place.
kieran mc geeney- not a lot of pressure from within the county even going by the county chairman's comments they are v happy with kieran to stay on (contract not up until end 2013) no matter what happens this year. heres the link to he's interview today he says he doesnt walk away from anything but he will ask they players what do they want he'l be manager of kildare for another while yet. http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/seanies-big-mistake-hes-been-honest-194520.html
i could name a few more jack o connor to end the 'famine' in kerry. james horan to get mayo to build on last year.jim mc gunniess to tweak the donegal style.
jason ryan in wexford 5th year in charge too etc

As I said banty nothing to loose. Even if he wins leinster I doubt he would be there next year. He knows this so nothing to loose the outcome is predetermined.
Mcgeeney after getting this far have to push on. And from what I've heard and red most commentators would agree. Also rather than been easy over 2 year deal it can often be the kiss of death. Means very little. Don't think any pressure on dublin this year for first time in decades. Kerry may have a little which is bizarre but 3 years without sam would be seen as a famine there.

Probably my own county Meath, although I wish it wasn't the case, but Kildare MUST deliver a leinster this year, you can only build a team for so long, although it's tougher to win a Leinster than it is Munster or Connaught.

I believe there may be a lot of pressure on Horan of Mayo,Mayo have often flopped under expectation.

McGeeneys job is safe no matter what.

Banty won't be Meath manager next year. And have no doubt next years Meath manager will also be under pressure. Its a poison chalice due to delusions of grandeur from certain fans. The players aren't there full stop.

Phrased that wrongly. Replace delusions of grandeur with 'they think they are actually better than they actually are'.

Very little pressure on McGeeney from Kildare fans anyways.

Nobody was expecting Leinsters and All Irelands when he first took over, and we're not going to start demanding them now.

We've improved pretty much year on year under him so far, and considering what state we were in during the few years he took over, if people say he must deliver silverware now then fair play to him for improving us and bringing us that far.

Of course it would be nice to win something alright, not gonna disagree with that, but I doubt many will be looking to show him the door if we don't win Sam.

As for the rest, I fail to see how there's much pressure on Banty, very few people are expecting Meath to do much this year. They'll love it that way, go out and prove everybody wrong and beat Kildare along the way to shut us up, stranger things have happened. Banty more than likely won't be there this time next year so there's nothing to lose from his side of things.

The Dubs will be pushed hard to retain Sam, everybody knows how hard an achievement like that is to come by. Make the last eight or semi finals and win Leinster, blood a few young lads and blend them into the team and come back stronger in 2013 wouldn't be a bad outcome for Gilroy. Of course though once the bandwagon starts rolling there'll be a few who might expect to just show up in September and win the All Ireland again, most genuine fans though will of course see things differently so the pressure is off here really.

Pressure could be on Jack O'Connor, especially if Cork topple them in Munster, McNulty might find it hard to get some of the Laois fans back onside after relegation and a defeat yesterday. Donegal will find it hard to repeat what they did last year, especially with a tough route through Ulster, given the attitude a lot of people from outside the county have towards the system they play any pressure McGuinness will more than likely come through the media though.

I'm sure mcgeeney will be safe come what may but if he fails to deliver this year would you question his ability to get Kildare over the line?
