Crowd Attendance

Sounds. Not sure Laois would agree to Croke Park and rightly so.

the toilets in dcp are a disgrace even a few urinal cakes would have taken away the smell, 7000 seemed very low to me, the stand was pretty much full and the far terrace was full, that alone would give you 7000 both terraces either side of the stand had a good crowd too

Any GAA man worth his salt knows that the actual attendance = 'the official attendance' + 2,999.

There was over 10,000 at the Meath v Wicklow game. They must not have counted any of the u16's as they were free. Poor enough crowd from Wicklow considering it was fairly close to home for them and they were on a run of 7 straight victories. Surprised such a Meath crowd traveled considering the terrible results we've gotten since the Galway game. Still it should have been fixed for parnell park and it would have been sold out with a slightly bigger crowd.

I imagine the Carlow game will have hardly any Carlow fans at it and at most I'd say 10k Meath fans, it's seen as a nothing game for most Meath fans but I hope I'm wrong and that they travel.

Still that's not a bad turnout, was at the Louth v Longford game in PortLaoise 2 years back and there wasn't 500 fans between the two.

Terrible crowd today, I would have thought Dublin winning the championship would bring back the crowds, seems as though they went downhill ever since Gilroy took over with his ultra defensive attitude.

32000 today in Croker according to RTE. That's a decent crowd for a first round champioship double bill, as Wexford footballers don't usually bring a big following.

People would want to wise up.
The Celtic Tiger era crowds were as much of a bubble as property was.
We won't see them again.
Disposable incomes have been decimated so people are very selective about how and when they spend their cash.
The crowds increase as the importance of the games increase.
Just like every other year.
Dublin were never going to lose today and the game was on telly.
TV viewing figures are very high for football and hurling which suggests there is no lack of interest in Gaelic games, just a lack of money.

would agree with most points on todays crowd
it was poor in fairness but it was predicted it was going to be poor for a number of reasons
the formula 1 racing was on in the city centre which had 100 thousand people attending thats a once off event so its going to take away people.
all the roads around town were closed from last night to this evening so it ment it was very hard for people to travel to the game from the southside with public transport a complete no no.also would have put off alot of people from longford or wexford making the journey to croker.
blooms day finale was on in the pheonix park also today so there was quite alot going on in dublin which ment traffic was mayhem.
throw in the weather being awful and in all fairness to louth the match was a no contest its hardly surprising at the attendance.
it always amazes me why you have nothing on for weeks and months and then you have all these things happening on the one day,why the dublin city council and the organisations cannot get together and arrange that they be on seperate weekends like you can throw in the mini marathon tomorrow in town for good measure they must like making things hard on themselves.

Every Dublin game is a big game. As Tommy Lyons once said "the Dubs are the only show in town" :)

I agree with you full stop. There were far more than 10,000 at the game, the stand was full. The far bank was full. Even behind the goals were reasonably populated. Wicklow brought a terrible crowd and I can't understand why. Very disappointing. One of the papers said the attendance was 7,300. Nonsense. I'd say 12.500 to 13,000.

Wicklowman, I think all the Wicklow Gaels are waiting for the Christy Ring Final at Croke. I hope you get a solid crowd for Staurday's final as the players deserve it.

Enjoy your day out in Croke.

That wasn't too bad but the vast majority of that was made up of Longford and Meath. Really poor showing from Carlow and Wexford.

Great crowd and was great seeing the ground packed out on the telly.

would have expected a lot higher considering the two teams view this as the munster final. i'd say if it was in kerry the crowd would have been a lot higher.
