No ballyoisin_bomb I didn't get to the game myself so am not in a position to comment on what went on before the game or around the ground. I, like MourneArmy, was talking about what you could hear (and see) from the coverage on BBC and what could be heard there were normal 'soccerlike' chants and not the types of song you are referring to. My comments are based on the television coverage and from that point I don't see any harm in singing the 'soccer' songs if it adds a bit of atmosphere. The only time you could hear anything from the stands was when Antrim were scoring or the short time they were ahead so I'd far rather hear that than no atmosphere at all.

hurlingdub - do you not see the irony of you as a Dub coming on to slate the Antrim fans for singing soccer songs?

Come on now. Celtic symphony, just cant get enough, build me up buttercup, 'Marky give us a wave' (At Mark Sidebottom).. Next you will be looking for fans to be segregated into home and away!! How are they songs 'supporting' Antrim GAA and their players? I was cringing!!! Embarrassing for the true Antrim gaels.

So because I say there's no harm in singing a song or two if it gets the atmosphere raised a bit then next thing on my agenda is segregation. Not sure how your logic works there MourneArmy. Have a look at the other thread going about soccer chanting and you'll see that the majority see it for what it is - harmless and good for raising an atmosphere. Chill out a bit man!

Will only be the Third of June...sure its the only date anyone should have in their calenders for this clash of the titans.
In all honesty forty-five i'm fairly sure it will be ye lifting the Anglo Celt this year but I think ye will be playing either ourselves or Down. Monaghan didn't look to spectacular yesterday. I just have a good feeling about this year from a Fermanagh perspective. Last time we played in an Ulster Final we also lost a league final and it was also the managers debut season...some good omens.

I never said it wasn't harmless. I just think that Celtic songs belong at Parkhead. 10-15 people singing Celtic songs doesn't create an atmosphere, it just sounds stupid in my opinion.

Do you really think that?

Really looking forward to the game. Though I've said for months I fancy Fermanagh to cause an upset! Its all set up nicely for Pete.
Where would you recommend for a few pre-match pints?

Mourne army I actually think it will be Tyrone this year but i do think it will be either us or Down in the final.

Pre match pints, you have the roadhouse which is just up the road from brewster. Will be a good crowd in it but a lot of the locals would be soccer lads. Jaggers opposite Dunnes Stores also close enough to the ground. Be more a soccer crowd in there as well but the owner is big enough into his GAA and even sponsors a local side. In fairness he does a good pint of stout as well. Up the town I'd recomend The Corner bar or further down the Town Blakes of the Hollow.

I think Armagh will beat Tyrone. Armagh is a tough tough ground to go to and come away with a win, as the Down players know well!

Nice one. Hopefully there will be a big crowd and a buzz about the place before the game. I'm excited!

Gotmilk, even if you get past us you wont beat Monaghan. I think people are getting carried away with Fermanagh, ya played Division 4 and were up against the like of London and Kilkenny...

You think Armagh will beat Tyrone or you want them to? There is alot of animosty by Down people towards Tyrone, jealousy i think.
Armagh have a good chance though with home advantage and with all our injuries

If your using league classifications wheres the logic in what you just said??

If Fermanagh beat Down (Division 1), they won't beat Monaghan (Division 3)??

If they beat us then there more than capable of beating an average Monaghan side.

Really??

I have a lot of respect and admiration for what Tyrone have achieved in recent years, certainly not jealous.

Give me Down's 5 AI's over Tyrone's 3 any day of the week!

Hurlingdub, Rem Croke Park a couple of years ago, don't get too far ahead of yourself or Antrim Hurlers will do the same to you again. Wishing your hurlers all the best in the championship they need to put together a good run after the disappointment of the 2012 NHL.

Because Down are easily the most inconsistent team in Ulster (IMO), capable of beating AI Champs one weekend and struggling against Div 4 the next. That is why I think that even if we somehow loose, Monaghan will still dispatch of them after playing a far higher standard of football which is more competitive. Division 4, as the Wicklow manager put it, is "no preparation for championship intensity football".

Gatekeeper - Every dog has their day and your time may not be that far away if it hasn't already come!

Yes, there is not that many titles between us but we didnt need the back door to win any and we also have back to back titles, the mark of a truly great team!

Plus, Id rather lead than follow!!!

Well, Barry Owens still addresses us as the aristocrats in an article in today's Irish News. I would value his opinion a little more than your's if i'm honest lol.

Down will always be addressed as the aristocrats, you may get used to it!
