ClondalkinDubdub is respected on this site...respected by who exactly...? Anytime I've read his posts they're full of complete nonsense...any man that posts throwaway comments like he did on Mark McHugh obviously knows NOTHING about the game. And as for his tired clichéd ratings on Donegals system, I think you'll find that the Sunday Game analysis last night and Cliona Foleys report in today's Indo should make everyone aware that he lacks any credibility whatsoever - a Johnny come lately who obviously never played the game, knows nothing about the game and who jumped on the bandwagon of Dublins success last year....

Respect...? Lol

did the sunday game not mention about donegal reverting back to there defensive style also on bbc 2 as much as it was painfull to listen too the commentary "i think we will both agree to that lol" as much as they credited donegal on there win they also said donegal reverted back to defensive style also but its still early plenty more games to go so see what happens...

When will the penny drop with people from other counties that Donegal don't care what other people think about what system they play? We now have a team that is competing with the top teams and doing us proud. Whether we win any silverware this year or not we have a team to be proud of because they will not be beaten easily. I know people would much rather see a return to the flaky Donegal of old but that is unlikely to happen under the current regime.

With Donegal, Tyrone, Armagh, Derry all on one side of the draw this year. The other side has largely been ignored in Ulster, with all the hype around the big teams. Even Armagh have been overshadowed in a game i think they can win.

Down are expected to waltz through to the final. Anybody think Antrim, Fermanagh or Monaghan have any chance of beating Down??

Fermanagh despite having Peter Canavan at the helm and Division 4 success are far from challenging for Ulster. Monaghan got a fair slagging from the Tyrone lads, due to their league performance.
I haven't heard too much or watched Antrim too much this year, so i dont know if any suprises could appear from there.
Monaghan would be capable of rattling Downs cage i think.

The only thing I can see stopping Down getting to the final is the build up of injuries they are afflicted with at the moment. It's not even as if it is squad players they are losing but a considerable number of their big hitters in addition to the loss of Clarke maybe Fermanagh could cause them difficulties in the first round although Fermanagh would still need a fair amount of luck.

I have supported Down long enough to know that we never do things the easy way. Even though we have to beat 2 division 3 sides to get to the Ulster final I haven't thought once about making it to Clones on the third weekend in July. I'm not looking past Fermanagh as i'm sure the players aren't either (I hope).

Also, my money would be on Armagh to beat Tyrone. Armagh with their Crossmaglen players will be a different animal altogether than the team we seen in the league.

Donegal ulster champions bookies favourites playing at home v derry in ballybofey there wont be many tipping derry in this game which is a good way for derry approaching this game no pressure on plenty of motivation from 2011 defeat unknown starting 15 ,injuries clearing up, makes us a dangerous opponent their always a big game in derry in the championship so id expect a close encounter like a few years ago when it went to extra time.

Armagh in Clones, 2007; Monaghan in Clones, 2009; Armagh in Clones, 2011: all these were games that Derry were expected to lose and yet went out and won like a very good team. Alternatively, I could also list a number of seriously disappointing performances over the same period, against the same teams even. If Derry get all their best players back fit and in form, they could give any team in the country plenty of it; at the same time, they are also capable of producing some real stinkers and we saw a couple of those during the league season just past (the entirety of the Tyrone game and the second half in Mullingar being especially notable in that regard). My own feeling is that Derry's poor league form, in fairness, was in large part down to a plethora of injuries which apart from the handicap of missing key individuals for one match or the other, also left it impossible to develop any consistency in terms of tactics or team selection. Before each successive game there was not just a long injury list but a different one; just as one player got fit, another got injured. The long run-up to the Donegal game will suit Derry, enable them to get everyone back fit and training together and I am convinced that they will produce a performance in Ballybofey,

Ulster GAA has uploaded a few pictures from Clones today on Facebook. The pitch is in immaculate condition, fair play to the ground staff! I would have to agree, nothing beats Clones on a sunny championship day, love it! Us Down ones aren't there enough for my liking, so lets hope that changes this championship!!!

There is no better place to be than clones on a hot, sunny day like today! Ahh the memories, some great days.
the great Noel Mc Ginn putting Mickey Linden on his arse over the sideline with a great shoulder in the 1986 ulster final!
Great days.

The Grassy Hill on a hot day like today it would be full of Sunshine Shelia's and on a wet day like 1998 final it was a death trap .

So everyones beloved gods of gaelic football scored less and conceded less today than the devils donegal did last week. Their awful defensive and should be kicked out of the championship. New rules are needed I tell you. Puke football :)

Dont see how you people see down "waltzing" to the ulster final...we are no better than fermanagh on their day.. on paper maybe but canavan will have a few tricks up his sleeve.

Antrims soccer fans and chants out in force today. Embarrassing that the camera keeps zooming in on them after every Antrim point.

So what MourneArmy? At least they were out supporting the team. Would you rather that every county team sticks to the normal GAA chant i.e. Antrim duh duh duh, Antrim duh duh duh or Up Down, Up Down, Up Down. Maybe everyone should just sit in respectful silence with any noise being reserved for outbursts at the referee.

offside...were you at the game?

I was, and I agree with the viewpoint on these fans... they were embarassing..and they at one point attempted to start a well known republican song which castigates those from the free state...

there were antrim fans lying stocious in the grounds of st tiernachs well before the game started.... a day out on the drink is all it was...

by the way this was in contrast to the antrim fansthat i spoke to who were very knowledgeable on the game and who had sharp words on these drunken "louts"...their words not mine..

The sooner Celtic start back the better. Although Antrim will be long gone out of everything before then.
