And Cavan are turning into the worst team in Ireland. Move over Kilkenny.

Chief I'm watching bbc2 and honestly if Kildare meet Donegal I will be cheering for Kildare and everyone knows how much I hate Kildare but at least they play football the right way. This is so boring , Donegal are ruining the game I love.

Lads some of you would want to get over yourselves...do ye realise how ridiculous some of ye sound....yes the game today lacked any excitement whatsoever....that was not Donegals fault....Cavan were so woeful and couldn't present any type of meaningful challenge... Donegal didn't even need to get out of second gear....as for the Cavan lads on about the Donegal tactics and the short kick outs...did ye even see the game.... Cavan played the exact same game but couldn't match Donegal...ye had more short kick outs than we had....stop trying to blame Donegals tactics for the fact ye were so awful....as for you ClondalkinDub...you lack any credibility whatsoever...going on about Donegals style of play when ye employ the same system yourselves...laughable....seriously laughable....

he may or may not be "one of my own" but by god he is boring, his only saving grace today being the fact that oisin Mcconville is worse

Lifford stop talking rubbish, the whole country seen that game today so your only lying to yourself. Donegal is the devil, the worst thing to ever happen to Gaelic football is Donegal and Jim mcguinness.

no disrespect to cavan but donegal always looked the stronger team and with cavans new changes to the side it would have been an ideal situation for donegal to try out new ideas and explore a few different options but from the start of game it was defensive by donegal all the way 12-13 men behind the ball and imo this is why there getting so much stick....

Whatever you say ClondalkinDub...your knowledge of Gaelic games is obviously limited when it comes to systems teams employ and particularly your own team, so there's no point even debating the issue with you...!

We scored 1-16....that's a pretty good score in any language for a team accused of being defensive! And the last time I checked, defense was as important an element of the game as attack and there was no rule to say that teams should only concentrate on attack... Fact is Dublin employ the exact same tactics and system....pity the media weren't consistent in this regard!

I'll repeat that game was awful okay from a spectator point of view but that was down to Cavan being so truly awful...how one of the Cavan midfielders stayed on the pitch for 70 minutes is a mystery...he wasn't even fit and didn't even look like a footballer... Cavan have to be the worst team in Ulster by a long way

So the annual beat the bejesus out of Ulster has begun? If Donegal are so bad what does that make Dublin? Let's face it Donegal should have beaten Dublin last year and would have if Karl Lacey hadn't been taken out and let's face it Dublin are up there as probably the worst winners of SAM in a long time.

Clondalkindub if you dislike a blanket defence that is fair enough. You are in the same boat as most neutrals on the issue.
But your view lacks any weight as you clearly understand nothing about the game unless you can rehash a tabloid quote. To play mark mchughs position as a half forward that scored twice from play and still is required to cover back for every attack requires a level of fitness and commitment beyond what most inter county players manage.
Mchugh would be in the top twenty in the country when it comes to fitness and was a mom contender today. If you make the point that it's a waste of his talent that may be valid. But when you don't understand his role to begin wit you are as well to hush.

funny that because they didn't always play that way so obviously this leopard does and they are playing much better football than against antrim last year. i'd fancy them v derry.

Cavan actually started very well, they were unlucky that they hit the crossbar & post in the first half but the belief in themselves seem to fade with every passing minute, just because of a panlty after only 20-odd minutes or so.

With all the good work being done with the youth in Cavan, good days will come for them.

And for those who hate Donegal - get over it. Their way has brought them success and they ain't gonna change it, no matter how much we want them to.
