1174996 dubby: It seems Mayo are yer bogie team! When everyone else are Mayo's bogie team! The best chance of Mayo winning an AI is playing Dublin or possibly ourselves in the final. There is little chance of us getting there so BEWARE of the green & red.

if mayo come across the dubs it will be an end to there championship,mayo had a good run in the league and got the better of a second string dublin squad now with all their players back and the hunger for back to back i really cant see mayo hurting dublin imo anyway,,


Thats true dubby, Mayo are nowhere near Dublins standard, not yet anyway, maybe in a couple of years time, again i doubt it though.

Nestor is realistic for Mayo, has been the last sixty years, sam is all just a dream. Unfortunately.

please dont misunderstand me im not cocky or over confident its an honest genuine post i think dublin have a great team and great chance to win the all ireland again,and i have to emphasise not cocky or over confident...

im not using any excuses in the league when you's won i actually was a few of the first to congratulate you's on the win go back and check,and if it does turn out mayo v dubs at the buisiness end of the season i honestly think dublin will be too strong for mayo!!!!!

Realistic goal for Mayo back then was to be competitive as Galway,Roscommon were a level ahead sure even Sligo were better than Mayo in 70s.

Number one, i am from Mayo, why you dont think so, is stupid, no other way to answer that i'm afraid.

There isn't a Mayo gaa supporter about that isnt aware of the fact we failed to win nestor in the seventies.

The reasons for this can be explained through detailed discussion, this thread is hardly the place though.

Main reasons been very badly ran county board, we had just won the league, won minor in 66 and 21 title in 74, county board had knee jerk reaction to defeat v Sligo in 75 i think, J o mahony wrote a good article about it a few years back in the western. Two all stars for a team that never won a weak province at the time, speaks volumes for me, the likes of Corcoran, Mcgrath and Carey, its beyond belief when you hear people talk of that era.

Anyway going back to your point to me, you have taken it out of complete context with knitpicking an era, overall Mayo always have a realistic chance of winning nestor.
