Did Roscommon fans burn a Dublin Flag in O'C Park?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It's actually an interesting discussion, despite silly comments about Union Jacks :-)

On a more upbeat note, I was talking to woman in work (she works, I contribute to internet forums :-) and she was saying that while she did notice a disturbance from the stand and heard about stuff later, that there was a generally good friendly buzz around the town. And seeing as I am handing out compliments, Tullamore is a good old spot for a game and pre and post match drinks.

Is there some connection to this woman and the man that another poster was talking to about kilkenny ruining hurling.

it's getting very sinister

Snuf, if you think the mob involved in the burning of the Union Jack were aware when it came to rule changes etc, then you sadly are mistaken, they were drunken single-celled amoebae who would'nt know their **** from their elbow, or maybe I'm mistaken, maybe they were serious students of the law and filled to the gills with patriotism. Don't make me laugh, I'm as proud a Dub as they come, but at least I'm honest. These fools give us our full-houses, thats why they're tolerated.

Funny how the call is for "proof" and "if this turns out to be true".....yet all these years people have had no problem accepting as gospel the lies about Dublin fans commiting 'sarin' attacks on bus loads of pensioners or flying cessnas into wheelchairs!!!

Where was the "proof" all those years?!

Yer all a bunch of "speak out of both sides of yer mouths, two faced schleeveens"!!!

Regards,

1167888 Do not attempt to close this thread admin, this is a very, very serious incident if proved to be true, and rational discussion must take place about the consequences of such hooliganism

Fair play slash, good to have you back on the hustings

Ahh now snuff. The joke I was on about was poor stephen spending most of the game picking the ball out of the net lol.
Cheating?? What's this?? I suppose the "frees" against both kildare and kerry were legitimate? Lol.
Ahh I miss the craic with the dubs. Yous are a lot better fun than the kildare boys. Who knows maybe this year we will meet again but if not I hope its not too long until we are back slagging in jones rd.

Not trying to throw the cat amongst the pigeions here as Im a hurler but Ive been to one football game which was about 4 years ago where Roscommon played Galway in the 1st round of the Connacht Championship and I was behind the goals for the 1st half and I can tell you there was no Galway supporters left behind those goals for the second half. We got stuff thrown at us got dogs abuse. Galway won that game easily and it was shameful for the Rossies as they ended the game with 14men and those "supporters" thought it deserved the biggest cheer of the day!!!

Lads on the whole Roscommon people are the same as anyone else. But can I just point out that I think Westmeath Gaels are sound too. There is a Garrison town shared by both of these towns wherein the 'Gaels' are also sound. Come a successful championship run either or of the 2 counties can attract scrub with more knowledge of League of Ireland.

Don't get me wrong Meath or any other county is any better. When the sun comes out and any county get on a roll, the extra 20,000 patrons are hardly all dyed in the wool GAA fans. We can all point fingers at opposing counties' undesirable but our regional newspapers remind us all every week that we all have our share!

Snuff I agree with you. My my I can't believe it.
If it was about dublin or Meath there would be no ifs and seeking evidence it would be taken as fact.

Themaster: Could you reference where your county board "considered making a complaint" against Roscommon for that incident? Obviously since it was a "life threatening" incident it would have maxed out your Mayo whinge-o-meter, and surely a record would exist of said whinging?

Roscommon allegedly burn a flag and the thread turns into a negative for mayo supporters, ahh man its laughable.

"Move on " does that mean you don't see this type of behavior as a problem.

What if you put a child off going to games by witnessing such horrible *****.

Here's hoping for a Mayo/Galway final in the west, traditional finals are the best by a country mile.

I was there and can confirmed no burning of flags happened.

Everything that's bad about Hoganstand is within this thread. A Dub starting a rumour another Dub feeling the need to start a thread on a rumour. (you won the match & All Ireland nothing worse than a bad winner) The usual Mayo posters that has loads of issues with Roscommon & last but not least Hoganstand allowing a thread like this to run for 5+ pages.

Whatever the final you'll be at home in front of the computer on the Mayo forum telling posters that Mayo will get hammered.

couldn't agree more with ispeakwisdom.

On the basis of everything and not one bit of concrete evidence I don't believe that a Roscommon man or woman set a Dub flag alight. Good luck to ye all.

First off an investigation should be carried out by HQ. There have been eye witness accounts from Dublin Supporters. Given the first hand evidence given by Connacht men in previous altercations on here, its adds to the validity of the question. If true then severe sanctions should be put upon Roscommon GAA.
