1167727 I have to say I really liked brolly when he first came on the punditry scene a few years ago.
He was fresh honest and very articulate

Much like bread, Freshness only lasts so long, after that it's only food for undiscerning ducks.

Mickey Harte must really have been stuck for something to write when he came out with this one.

While there is a bit of truth in the actual point he has made on this occasion, you cant help but this is just another in a long list of attempts to get people talking about him. Since that outburst against cork he hasnt looked back. Personally I think his vanity is getting the best of him, he is trying to be controversial at any cost, and get on a par with pat spillane. I found I have lost interest in what he has to say because more often than not his points are constructed to serve himself, as opposed to the game we have just seen.

All I can say is well done Joe! Best and most sensible statement the man has ever Made and it's totally 100% true. The wee Peter Harte Project is over and Tyrone will have to come up with a Plan B pretty swiftly if they want to make an impact in the championship

A Down supporter talking about a plan B, oh the irony of it all.

Yes a Down Supporter talking about Plan B, fair enough we don't always have an obvious Plan B but if your Plan A is going well enough then you don't need it. The only reason I'm referring to Tyrone and a Plan B is because Mickey Harte usually has a Plan B, C, D etc. but it was plain to see against Kildare

We seem to all have stated our like or dislike of Joe as a commentator. Dont see that many have made comment on what the man said. So I will start. Any body who has watched any gaelic football in the last 10 years should be able to think back on one or more examples of what Joe has spoken off. It is as plain as the nose on your face that players are going down with the express purpose of having their opponent sent off. It is not peculiar to Tyrone or indeed Kerry or any other team, I have seen it at every level of football.I have seen Derry players do it and I cringe when it happens it is a blight on the game and what I dont understand is that the referees are sucked in time and again. Anyone can see especially in the replays that injury is feigned ,diving is an art. I would suggest that the GAA should examine all televised and videoed games and the players regardless of who they are be identified and penalised after the fact. And that a circular should be sent to every top level referee with comments on which player to watch for this kind of act. It is a blight on the game it is unsporting it is cheating and must be dealt with. So There are my thoughts about the thread .

So what , If he or anyone else has an opinion on something they are entitled to it. I find Brolly and Spillane amusing i have to say. I like both of them but i do think they easily wind people up, whats the big deal, they like being controversial, It gives the game more coverage at the end of the day, Its gives GAA people something to talk about

Well in relation to Joes article its clear we have seen plenty in Tyrone diving whoops I mean football......Rather excited about what the 10th of June will bring in the Athletic Grounds

Think Joe just loves winding up Tyrone; he was pretty quiet about this before so why bring this up now? Did Joe get another belt from a Tyrone fella in an oldies match, he always seems to attract a few hits when he plays these games.

I like pundits like Pat Spillane and Joe Brolly but sometimes they go over the top and get it wrong. I myself prefere todays football compared to the catch and kick and hit of over 30 years ago.

I take it most of you didn't even bother to read the article before commenting...if you had you'd have seen that everything he said was spot on...!

Depends on which paper that you read Lifford Gael. In one he points out Tyrones failures last Sunday. In the other he tears some of their players to bits even though he was a huge supporter of theirs during that time.

As much as i feel brolly has made some valid points in the article. I tend to think he is just trying to be to blunt about it tying to stir it up things to make more publicity for himself...

Seems the only defence being offered by the usual suspects is to ridicule the Irish Mail and Joe Brolly, but completely ignore the substance of Brolleys article, every word of which was the truth. Very wel said Mr Brolley!

Derry men in general have little love for Tyrone, Derry men with family from Tyrone would probably have even less love for Tyrone. Add in that Joe has been a regular target for abuse from Tyrone fans and also was marked (probably literally) by Paul Donnelly during his career. However Joe loves only one thing more than winding up us Tyrone folk and that is torturing his fellow pundits on RTE and they fell for it every time. We know Joe only too well to fall for his wind ups.

1167848 Sure wasn't he one of Tyrone's greatest defenders a few year's back?
Someone mentioned Dooher. Won a qualifier against Westmeath a few years ago when he acted up to get a player the line.

I posted on another thread on htis or similar yesterday. I think Joe's re-found contempt for Tyrone may come from Colm Cavanagh ..James Conway McKenna cup game earlier this year.
