Fair play to Down for getting their season back on track. I remember Sligo losing all their (6 or 7) league games a couple of years ago before going on to win the Nicky Rackard a few months later. Can Down go all the way now? A few years ago they were the competition favourites but failed to get over the line. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 14/05/2012 13:42:40 1171769 Link 0 |

kerry clubs and some players lack ambition for the county team.FACT FACT FACT FACT FACT THEY DONT MATCH MYLERS AMBITION! kerryluck (Kerry) - Posts: 2517 - 14/05/2012 21:50:13 1172395 Link 0 |
Meyler is a driven man and sometimes can come across as been bull headed yet a top notch coach worst decision ever by Wexford was gettin rid of him has been a massively down hill since then... Anyway back on point seems a good competion this year (admittinly first time really paying attention to it) i don't see London been pushed over by Derry to easily.. Sad to see how far Derry have fallen wasn't long ago they were competing in croke park thing it was against Offaly they gave a scare to for first 50 minutes wexcore (Wexford) - Posts: 740 - 15/05/2012 11:53:52 1172565 Link 0 |
Derry won the Ulster U-21 a few years back & put it up to Tipp in the All-Ireland semi. Brian Gilligan was managing them then & fell out with the county board afterwards when he claimed there was a lack of support for hurling. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 15/05/2012 14:29:18 1172732 Link 0 |
Keeper 7 we are just taking it one step at a time this year. Very young team this year with a lot of new lads due to retirements and immigration. We will give it a real lash, but there are some real solid teams left in the competition and its there for the taking. Derry has a great chance if they can only avoid Wicklow. saulgael (Down) - Posts: 553 - 16/05/2012 13:04:14 1173425 Link 0 |
No chance of Derry walking it against London, although I still see them winning. London have never had better hurlers in the county but it just hasn't clicked. scruff (UK) - Posts: 467 - 16/05/2012 14:24:00 1173518 Link 0 |
You're dead right scruff, London by right with the standard of players they have here should be walking this competition and they should of easily won the league. Hopefully a change of management next year will see them back on track because they are going backwards at the minute. Saying that I do fancy Derry to win easy enough if London play like they did the last day. Outsider222 (UK) - Posts: 95 - 16/05/2012 15:36:56 1173612 Link 0 |
Well folks we are now at the business end of the competition and its win or go home. I see Kildare and Derry progressing, but they will be tight encounter that's for sure. It would have been nice if the GAA did the draw for the semi final so that Wicklow & Down could perhaps check out their potential opponents for the semi final, i guess that's too much to ask. London beat Derry by a couple of points. Big result for the exiles. doubletree (Dublin) - Posts: 164 - 19/05/2012 16:00:35 1175847 Link 0 |
Great win for Meath against Kildare who have been a bogey team for them, best of luck to the lads now hope they can go all the way Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3748 - 19/05/2012 19:55:21 1175974 Link 0 |

Are there any dual Wicklow players at the moment? You'd imagine a Wicklow V Meath doubleheader with the football next weekend would be brilliant. Our hurlers managed to get a doubleheader yesterday. Unfortunately the hurling throw-in was 1pm which meant it was over by 2.30pm & almost noone saw it. Plus the players had to tog out down the road in the rugby club because the football teams needed all 4 dressingrooms. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 21/05/2012 17:54:44 1177429 Link 0 |
Keeper7 - Stephen Kelly is a dual player for Wicklow. Wing back on both county sides. Great player with a tough decision ahead of him next weekend. Not one bit fair on him. Why oh why are the GAA so insistent on getting the Christy Ring Cup 'out of the way' every year. All done and dusted last year on the last week in May!! Legendz from Kerry would say it's set up that way so that the winners can be included in the McCarthy Cup qualifiers....yet that hasn't happened yet! keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 21/05/2012 18:46:42 1177500 Link 0 |
Should be a Down V Wicklow final but I'd say both semis will be tight. Home advantage to swing it in both. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 21/05/2012 18:56:28 1177517 Link 0 |
Wicklow must be overall favourites but its been a strange year as no-one stands out; the mourne men seem to be playing well but London will be tough; hard to call the winner at this stage. bigtomsbreeks (Down) - Posts: 130 - 22/05/2012 15:57:04 1178175 Link 0 |
Surprised the Wicklow vs. Meath is not a double header with both counties playing each other in both codes this weekend. portavogielad (Down) - Posts: 446 - 22/05/2012 18:54:03 1178355 Link 0 |
If Wicklow were to play a double header at Dr. Cullen Park then Wicklow would have to give up their home field advantage for the semi final. I'm sure Wicklow Hurlers would love to play in front of big crowd as there will be less than a 1,000 in Aughrim for the Christy Ring Semi on Saturday vs. 10,000 (+/-) in Carlow Sunday. doubletree (Dublin) - Posts: 164 - 22/05/2012 20:26:48 1178442 Link 0 |
