Tyrone not good enough to win an all Ireland. I think Dublin will walk Leinster Kildare average at best.

---------------------

Sounds like someone hasn't seen much of Dublin this year. Anyone who speaks with certainty about how Leinster will go doesn't know much about football

Great stuff today lads, a 5 point win against the form side in the country is a great way to kick off the summer. I agree with the comments on Fogarty - serious impact . The confidence boost it will give him to do that against Tyrone in Croker could reap big rewards.

Just think, if it hadn't been for that needless foul on Emmet Bolton a few weeks back then Fogarty wouldn't have got the chance to announce himself today. It's a funny old game.

I agree with you banana republic. Royaldunne is as per usual talking nonsense. It's not that long ago he was on the Meath forum encouraging this type of play. Now he's castigating it.

For what's it worth, I thought it was quite a good game of football. There's nothing wrong with keeping possession by means of a handpass. Particularly when both teams were defending in such numbers and such a wind was blowing.

I also enjoy Kildare's style. The tackling is immense and the support play and movement is terrific too. You have to hand it to them. After all the close defeats they've had, they keep bouncing back. I would like to see them win a Leinster this year.

Saving this one for a rainy day.

Thank god that sham is done and dusted. A game that perfectly highlighted the futility of the current league system, a game that should never have taken place IMO and I stand by that assertion. The puny attendance, the lack of atmosphere and the total lack of real conviction from both sides backs that up, and I hope that Croke Park and the GAA have made a loss this weekend as seemingly nothing focuses the mind of the GAA more than £ + €. I don't mean this as any slight on Kildare by the way, they, like Tyrone, will have bigger and more meaningful battles in the months ahead and I wish them every success in Leinster and beyond.

Kerryman, it was not the type of football that Tyrone beat Kerry in 2003 with, so that is a harsh assessment. Wet and windy conditions and Kildare notch up 16 points. Some very nice scores. Please let go the past and stop knocking the game. The era of space and handy scores are gone with the players having a feed of beer the night before the game. Move on and come up with a system to break down players who cover every blade of grass. McGeeney deserves great credit, he has stuck to his system and I like the way they play. They waste a lot of chances but hey they still put up high scores.

I certainly don't believe Dublin will walk Leinster this year.

There's a lot of teams going in the right direction in the province, Louth, Kildare, Wexford, Longford, Wicklow. Maybe none of them bar Kildare are realistic contenders but the other four are capable of making life difficult for any team.

Dublin in fact have possibly stood still since that All-Ireland win. They partied a lot, and have possibly lost an edge in physical strength that they had. The hunger might not be what it was (I don't know that but I do know winning an All-Ireland takes a lot out of a team).

Dublin favourites for Leinster but Kildare close behind. After that several teams who might cause a shock.

good win for kildare against a much talked about tyrone..............it was a workman like performance rather than an impressive one..........tyrone are certainly not one of the top 4 teams in the country..............3rd or 4th best in ulster after donegal, down, armagh, tyrone/derry...............kildare will take stopping in leinster.......

Just read this again. I can't believe how bitter you sound here. Why so upset?

If you say Kildare are average at best that means you think they are below average. Really?? You'd put us 17th or lower in the country?? Please, enlighten us with your full rankings list. I suspect it'll be a hoot

Millhouse, very good to Kildare? Tyrone relied on soft enough frees to stay in the game, Mulligan and O'Neill starved of enough ball the whole game. Kildare are a good side and by god in Derry we would love to be in their position at the minute, but I wouldn't be getting to carried away today with what i saw. The create a load of chances but their forwards aren't at the same level of Kerry, Dublin, Mayo and even Tyrone who they beat today. Wasn't until the young lad number 22 came on that they had someone inside could finish. They hit at least 10 hail marys a game and whilst a few eventually go over, only that they can keep possession as well ,is why they survive in games. Against better opposition they will suffer, which is unfortunate as I admire their effort and honesty but until they find a real classy forward inside they won''t have a chance of an All Ireland.

bananapublican i've watching football now for 40 years and i dont know of any team having a feed of beer before the game you must be talking obout the 40's or 50's sorry i wasnt around that time . all I was trying to say it was a bad game till the last ten minutes thats when the football i remember was played and we saw some great scores think kildare got 6 or 7 points to win it. by the way tyrone did beat kerry in '03 playing that defensive game nobody likes, it was in '05 they beat them fair and square playing the best football seen in modern times. also the ref was very much in favour of kildare most of that game today.

Struggled for a long time to break down a very dogged and well organised defensive Tyrone side. Longer it went the more space we were able to work and ran out good winners in the end. Kicked some great points on a difficult day for long range point taking and the result sets us up nicely for a real shot at a Leinster title.
