Kildare v Tyrone - Division Two League Final...

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Only one outcome for me here guys, an easy Tyrone win. Tyrone in my opinion are serious contenders for Sam this year and have improved since the first league meeting of the 2 sides. Guys like Cavanagh, Ricey, the McMahon brothers etc are just in a different class.

In fairness to Kildare they have improved as the league played out but against Galway they were pathetic. How can Earley be expected to play at the pace which Tyrone play? Doyle is not the player he once was, big problems around the middle of the park also. And every sheep in the Curragh knows how Kildare fail on the big day!

Tyrone 2.17 Kildare 0.11

I reckon every sheep in the Curragh knows the scent of you Barney. I'd hope our fitness levels are now more or less on a par with that of Tyrones which should help to bridge the gap somewhat. We'll go up and give it a good old rattle and see how it goes. Tyrone missing some big players but they have strength in depth. They're a fine side so a victory against them would be hard earned.

Tyrone have already won the league, beating Kildare along the way, not interested in this farce.

Ah lad will ya go up and enjoy the match, or at least watch it on tv. Have to ask the question, if Trone were beaten in Ulster and got to an All Ireland final via the qualifiers would you turn around 5 days before the match and say it's a farce, Tyrone were beaten in Ulster so I'm not interested in the final?

A poor and if you don't mind me saying so, irrelevant analogy there derfil1. One is a straight knockout with a last chance saloon safety net, the other is a league with 7 games played on a home and away basis and the strongest team finishing top of the pile. Were Tyrone to lose to Kildare in the 'final', then the records will say that Kildare are the champions of League 2, 2012, whereas the league table itself tells a different story. I'm quite content in the knowledge that we were the best out of the other 7 counties we faced, thats good enough for me, roll on the championship.

This will be far from a farce.

Both sides have had 3 weeks off, and will then have 6/7 weeks to wait before their championship openers, so I highly doubt that there will be any shadow boxing in an attempt to conserve energy or avoid injuries. Kildare badly need some silverwear to get that monkey off their back, and a win over a good side in Croke Park would also be high on McGeeney's wish list. For their part, Tyrone will not want to go unbeaten through the league, only to fall at the final hurdle, and Mickey Harte has a great desire to win every competition his sides enter. I'd expect a very competitive match.

I would have thought you'd have known this since the start of the year. Sure it'll be all the sweeter to beat us a second time and put us back in our box

Judging by what I seen in Pearse Stadium that day, either Galway where very good or Kildare where very poor in that second half. I'd have to go with the latter I am afraid.

I'd say it will be a good game, Tyrone have been hit with injuries but they should take it.

Have you not got Sky Atlantic? There's a fly-on-the-wall GAA series on there about northern teams called "Game of Trones". It's very good.
