Half a headache for the county board tonight after Don/Ash beat Bective by a point. They'll be Intermediate next year

Ok here it comes my long awaited predictions on the Great Junior A Championship. I have left it as late as I could as I know what I say can sometimes lead to a charge to the Bookies and how I love to see them quiver. Get your money on early as the odds will be a lot shorter once this is made public

The maestro has spoken

Bective v Don/Ash.
Bective have done well since the Chronicle at the start of the year gave them the Kiss of death by picking them to win. They lost to Ratoath in a dead rubber and wobbled a bit when drawing with Drumconrath but have had good wins over Drumbaragh kilmainham and OMahonys. Don/Ash are a decent team they lost to Simonstown which is no shame and their Quarter win over a spirited but ageing Cortown has really put them on the map. Bective are no flash in the pan as this is there 2nd good year but they may find the resources of Ashbourne a litte to much. Ash by a few.

Ratoath v Simonstown
At this stage can not see Ratoath not be an Intermediate team in 2013. Simonstown are no bad team but Ratoath should be able to ease through with a bit of a cushion. But then this is Ratoath a fickle enough bunch with major talent. Simonstown last outing the win over Dunsany will give them confidence and while they have also beaten Meath Hill and a few other 2nd team Clubs Ratoath if they hit form will win by 6.

Ratoath easily beat Simonstown in the other semi final. 2-16 to 8 points it finished. Anyone know when the final is scheduled?

I n hurling their are 4 clubs who have senior and intermediate teams. The last clubs that I remember that had intermediate second teams in football, were Walterstown, who were beaten in the semi final of the intermediate by Balivor, who went on to win it in 1981,and O'Mahonys who were intermediate in 1985.
Dunboyne,
Kildalkey,
Kilmessan,
O'Mahonys.

Am i the only one who has a slight problem with ratoath going up by only playin second teams in the knockout stages?

Granted, the second teams are there on merit....

I'd say you've a problem with more than that, you should really see a professional about all of them chips on your shoulder! Off for a few sociable ones to acknowledge IFC status, if you can't sleep call the Samaritans

Not taking a swipe at ratoath, more so questioning the format...

Clearly ratoath are deserved finalists, and deserve to be intermediate. But when i look at ashbournes path, bective and cortown!?

Luck of the draw i suppose

Wouldn't ya just know someone would have to have a dig at ratoath over beating 2nd teams!!! They bet first teams en route to reach the quarters, semis and final so obviously the other first teams wernt good enough!!!! Also ratoath topped their group ahead of drumbaragh (first team) and bective (first team and so called favourites) so by topping their group earned the easier side of the draw

dubsout, Ratoath won their group so they were obviously going to have an "easier" quarter final. They easily beat Summerhill who had knocked Kilmainhamwood out in the group stages. Then they came up against Simonstown who had topped their group and had trounced Dunsany (who knocked us out last year) in the quarter final and also won convincingly. In my view there's nothing wrong with the format. Both Ratoath and Donaghmore /Ashbourne got through the knockout stages by beating a group winner and runner up. If the first were good enough, more of them would have made the quarters/semis, but they weren't.
