Dunno why i put Drumbaragh instead of Bective.
Lagore, don't think we were lucky at all. In fact, Ratoath had 2 or 3 goal chances in the first half (apart from the two they got) but missed them. One goal was a bit of a scramble alright but the other was well taken. The third was from the penalty spot (and it was a blatant penalty).
Midfield would worry me. Bective destroyed us at kickouts and a better team would have done better on the scoreboard. Also, the players seemed to switch off at times when they went a fair bit ahead which let Bective back into the game somewhat.

predictions

Ratoath - Summerhill....ratoath
Kilmainham - Bective..... kilmainham
Cortown - Donaghmore/Ash..... cortown
Simonstown - Dunsany....simonstown

says a lot for junior football when 3 of the 8 qfinalists are 2nd teams....don't know if this can be the result of emigration, or just a widening gulf between the senior teams and the rest of the county....won't be long before we have a second string side playing intermediate

Yes most likely only a matter of time before we have a 2nd string playing Intermediate. We're one of very few counties not to have a 2nd string in intermediate at the moment really. Would imagine Don/Ash are most likely best contenders to make the step up, Summerhill and O'Mahonys next best

Anybody know what the pairings would be for semis?

Didnt Brigids in Blanch have two Senior teams for a while? I Agree the stronger clubs like Don/Ash or Simonstown even ourselves have a great chance of winning Junior A , we have a very strong second string this year if they can keep the players we could go all the way (Quarter Finals this week) . But I think any second team will struggle in the Intermediate and go straight back down because its such a dogfight in the Intermediate

Anyone know what the score was in the Summerhill v kwood game??
Also on the semi final pairngs or has this been decided yet?

I think tha Don/Ash could cause an upset against Cortown, I havnt seen much of Cortown but Don/Ash look to be strong enough again this year and will be a problem for any team.

However I think that if they avoid each other until the final the I think it will be a Ratoath v Kilmainham final with Ratoath just edging it. Everyone keeps going on about Ratoath being weak in the middle and not having the bottle in the big games, but it was shown against Bective at the weekend after going behind to an early goal to come back and win comfortably in the end. Still a young side, but apart from Na Fianna (Favourite for Intermediate) and Moynalvy (Senor) have only lost once agaisnt Bective by 2 points in the opening game of the season.

It is said every year but this is the first time I will get behind it and say that I think this is the year Ratoath will finally back up the hype and win the Junior Championship

Its not that long ago Cortown were beaten by Ultans in the Intermediate Final and I think they still have there main men playing (Loughran, Coyne ) so they have bags of experience and will be a huge threat , and there are still in the Tailteann Cup Semis and if results go there way get to the League Final

Kilmainham are a Div 2 Side playing Senior and Intermediate sides, Wolfe Tones were one of the last Junior Sides to be Div 2 to do this and we know what happened with them, Mickey Newman would be a handful at intercounty never mind Junior in Meath

Dunsany are always there or thereabouts, a hugely physical side with lots of experience , lots of Senior Hurlers and have been perennial Semi finalists and Finalists , with the addition of the Drumree lads will add to an already strong panel

The draw for the semi finals is on the fixtures booklet on the Co Board site. The winners of Cortown/Donaghmore play the winners of Kilmainham/Bective.

Am I right in saying that both finalists will be promoted to Intermediate this season?

Good lad summerhill. Couldn't have gotten your predictions more wrong. Spectacularly wrong in Ratoath's case.

3 out of 4 predictions right, happy with that, Ratoath to make the final and i think they will be playing don ash in it with Ratoath prevailing, that bunch of players seem to have plenty of bottle!

Oh yes 4 out of 4 I'm some boy at the predictions I know the story

I reckon Simonstown will beat Dunsany by 3 clear goals
Also that Don/Ash will handle Cortown by 2 points
Bective will beat Kilmainhan fairly well but Kilmainham may get a late goal to only lose by 4
Ratoath will demoralize Summerhill

Yes I am brillant ok

Few surprises after q finals i would have thought..... i know i predicted simonstown to bt dunsany, but didn't think it would be so clear cut....

Didn't think Bective could recover from their defeat to ratoath in time to beat Kilmainham, the lack of a game last week may have hindered Kilmainham...

No surprises with the result in the ratoath summerhill game, ratoath lookin strong...

Biggest shock i feel was in the cortown defeat to ashbourne. With the experience that cortown have, i thought this young ashbourne team were there for the taking...I was wrong!!
