"bective are a very very strong team and should be in the final next weekend where I would fancy them to beat this ratoath outfit"

1)They shouldn't be in any final next week, that's very unfair on the team that took their scalp

2) They played Ratoath in this same championship only a month ago and lost by 6 points. They were 3 behind at half time even. Truth is Donaghmore Ashbourne were the better team last weekend which is why they're in the final.

3) Bective and Ratoath are both division 3 teams, a division with 7 Intermediate teams and 1 Senior. Ratoath finished third, 3 points above Bective with a 42 point better score difference than them.

4) This same Donaghmore team are coming 1st in the Div1 B league with a game in hand

I was at the Bective/Donaghmore game too, so what was it about the game that says Ashbourne shouldn't be there? Bective are making great strides and beat us deservingly in the 1st round of the league in Febuary, They were promoted from div 4 last year and finished 5th in league and got to a County semi this year. They're moving in the right direction but people like you aren't doing them any favours.

well im not convinced people take it too seriously but your entitled to your opinion in my view you were denigrating a championship that may or may not be great football to watch but is competitve all the same and means alot to the lads that train all year to win it. it gives many smaller clubs and border town clubs a chance to have there day in the sun and let them at it!!why bring up how tough senior is when it has no relevance to the thread. best of luck to both sides enjoy it!

Maestro

Funny that Maestro, Parnells and Brigids won the last 2 in Dublin, didn't stop them winning an All-Ireland last year.

This forum is brilliant!! Ratoath were meant to bottle it against Bective and won by 6 or 7 points.

Ratoath were meant to bottle it against Summerhill in the quarter finals and won by 20 points.

They were meant to bottle it against Simonstown and won by 14 points.

So heres hoping they "bottle" it against Ashbourne on sunday!!!

I have great respect for ashbourne as a club and a team but as I have said from day 1 I think Ratoath will win this championship and win it well. It will be a close game for the first half I think but Ratoath will have to much pace and power for ashbourne and run out winners by about 8 points!!

Lads it Ratoaths to Lose. Ashbourne are playing their 2nd team so its like playing a team without their 22 best players.

Ratoath have all the stars and should win this very easy ,

In fairness to the ashbourne its some achievement from them to get to the final and go intermediate ,

Cant seem them getting within 10 of the blue and yellow.

iamgod.. i feel ur accusations are very harsh considering i am a true meath and ashbourne gaa man. ive been to more club games than you have had hot dinners i can assure you that. Ashbourne have been racking up the scores so far in this championship and i think with matthew devine and tony morgan in the full forward line they have a very potent attack and knowbody can argue with that... they should both be playing senior.. who do ratoath have that is anywhere near their standard

although i am a cork man ive been living in ratoath for 35 years.. i feel ratoath have been knocking on the door for some time now and thank god their time has finally come to fullfill their potential and compete at intermediate. ashbourne are a very exciting side with great forwards i was lucky enough to attend their semi final... great free taker young devine i think... can anyone tell me why he is not on the senior side quick as lightning and extremely accurate

Oh and while I'm at it summerhillof69

Ok I got it wrong about Ratoath, they apparently played well but I heard our lads stopped working in the 2nd half also
For the Semis in Ratoath V Simonstown, Id go for Simonstown - The senior experience and the talented youngsters should be enough
to get past a young light Ratoath side

Bective V Don/Ash - Bectives to push on , they have the hunger which I dont think Don/Ash will have

Ive know Matt Devine very strong for such a young man, accuarate off both feet and a lethal free taker, I would of thought he would of been
on the Seniors, I know he was last year. .His father is a Dub from St Vincents and has an AI club medal in his back pocket so he didnt lick it off the ground
Whoever we get to mark him will hav eto be top of there game thats for sure, Morgan is a huge threat aswell , very quick for a big man and great ball handling skills,Ashbourne have quality all over the pitch and will be hard bet. . This game will be a lot closer than people think with only a kick of a ball between them.
As someone said this team have beaten Ratoath in a challenge game recently with ease I may add so dont write off D/A just yet

it is certainly not Ratoath players or true fans on here blowing up our chances on sunday saying all we have to do is turn up (something summerhill didnt do v Ratoath) we have a great deal of respect for Ashbourne and are fully prepared for a hard fought contest and are not taking anything for granted , we do have confidence going into this match as i am sure Ashbourne do

themadzerbyrne
you are being very disrespectful to the ratoath team suggesting they dont have players of the standard of matthew devine and tony morgan i hate singling out players because it very much a team effort in Ratoath but Brian McMahon Bobby O Brien Conor McGill Brian Power to name a few not that they need motivation but i dont think Ashbourne will be thanking you for your posts

rath_togh ")They shouldn't be in any final next week

I can assure you that anyone with any football competance will know bective should be in the final this year against ratoath. Bective have quality players throughout and this is not justified by their junior status which will remain. Some will call it bitter but i hope ashbourne beat ratoath because I still firmly believe bective are a better side than ratoath

Look B4J if Bective 'should' be in a County final they'd be there next week. What you're saying is totally disrespectful to Ashbourne and Ratoath who are in the final and have beaten Bective in the championship in the past 28 days or so.

What do you mean by "i hope ashbourne beat ratoath because I still firmly believe bective are a better side than ratoath"? Be it Donaghamore or Ratoath that wins, then that team will be the best team. Why don't you just wait and see. Most neutrals back or fancy a team based on form. You 'hope' Ashbourne will win. Just so that you can come on here and say that Bective were better than Ratoath. What if Ratoath win? Will the 3rd best team in the Junior have the title.

Don't fool yourself it IS bitter and childish too. Let the best team win on the day. Whoever that is will have the best Junior A team in Meath in 2012.

@ B4J - Look bective are a very astute junior team I'll give you that but they are way to reliant on players such as Jack Grant and Craig Roche but i fancy them to be in the shake up next year....
head4dblackspot
yes all these players i believe are over hyped and you are quiet clearly buying into the hype... if these oplayers were as good as you say they are y are ratoath contesting a junior final and not intermediate

Dermroo ashbourne go in as underdogs, but will come out with the cup
i would hate to spoil your prediction but in gearoid crowley bookmakers ashbourne are 8/11 favourites.. although i agree with you ashbourne should not be favourites and i fancy them to take home the cup
