hope its a good game on Sunday but it looks like Ratoath will have to much for Ashbourne they were really impressive against Simionstown as they were all through championship and looks like they will more then able to hold there own going up a level .
i was surprised Bective didnt make it this year but fair play to Ashbourne a hard fought victory sees them go up great achievement for there club to have intermediate and senior teams

Didn't see ashbourne getting this far but fair play to them two tough matchs against two good teams who were both favorites, rathoath will be a step too far do and i see the final being a bit of a blow out with rathoath winning easy.

I wouldnt write off Ashbourne at all, they have already accounted for two of the favourites so far and have a lot of senior experience in there side
and the lads in Ratoath reading this must think they have it already won and onyl have to show up, Ash to provide a shock and win by 2

Fair play to Ashbourne made that bective side look very average. Bective had no fight up front and a very poor full back and full forward line but theres always next year lads keep at it. Ratoath looking strong

Ratoath are probably the least surprised that Donaghmore are in the final. They gave us a good beating in a challenge match during the Summer & we had a strong enough team out. They won 2 different U21 titles in 2011 with 2 different groups of players. That's a lot harder to do at underage than adult level and I would say it was a bigger achievement than being promoted to IFC.

Donaghmore have won the last 2 U21 championships and have previously won 3 MFC in a row. When all bar one U21 competition was being played 13 - a - side over the past few years due to lack of interest and playing numbers in this age group, Donaghmore put out 2 panels of about 40 players over the past 4/5 years.

We live next door to them, have gone to school with them, socialise with them. We're not surprised, it was inevitable it would happen sometime.

I think we'll still beat them though!!

Wouldnt be surprised to see Don/Ash turn over Ratoath in the final but fully expect Ratoath to go on and win the Leinster junior

I'm fairly sure O'Mahonys won the u21 championship last year, with dunshaughlin winning the minor in 2009, O'mahonys in 2010 and ratoath claiming it in 2011 so this again shows you don't know it all. That brazeness on facts is a serious let down on you're part. Again remember that the 21 championship is very poorly run and can we easily won if a team has any sort of organisation/preparation. In terms of the junior A Ratoath should have claimed this title a couple of years back in my opinion with all the underage talent they had coming through, as for ashbourne..its a great achievement for the club and I have serious respect for all the work which has gone into their underage. But don't blow either clubs out of proportion.

I only stated why I'm not surprised that Ashbourne are in the final. Yes I was a little off forgetting that Donaghmore lost 1 of the 2 U21 finals they were in. They also hold the '06, '07 and '08 MFC titles as well as contesting the '09 final so that's 3 in a row in anyone's book.

I never blew Ratoath up I just said I thought they'd win. You, not me, are the one who made reference to our MFC win last year. I just backed them to win because I'm an optomistic clubman. Every time one of you half wits has changed username and has an angry rant I publish and put on record that I agree and I know well that Ratoath are a few years behind where they should be by now. So your preaching to the choir. That's unfortunate from our point of view but hardly the fault of at least 2/3 of the current squad.

Bitter maybe?

its that time of year again when the wind up merchants get back on hoganstand. madzerbyrne, i presume you know little about football by ur short sentence explaining why ashbourne will win

but in truth, junior football in meath is a very poor grade and while i like reading through it, some of the rubbish on here is laughable. the grade is the poorest in leinster - if not the whole of ireland. the step up from junior to intermediate in this county isnt massive, but when you get into senior its total different turkey.
i suggest that all the WUM's wait for there club to get to that stage and then they can give a valid point on this forum

iamgod well then seeing as how junior is so weak compared to the rest of leinster how is it that meath clubs have a very good record of going very far in the leinster championship? You make the point other posters dont know what they're talking about but you clearly dont either if you dont know junior is very strong in meath.
I was also in navan on friday night and was shocked by the outcome, bective are a very very strong team and should be in the final next weekend where I would fancy them to beat this ratoath outfit

i am god i dont think its fair to say junior football is that bad with strong showings from many junior teams in lienster and indeed the all ireland series in the last ten years. tones, nobber, ballinabrackey to name a few. i dont think either of the finalists are too concerned about next year and beyond.the harmless banter between opposing teams adds a bit of spice and hardly think anyone loses much sleep over what is said.which begs the question why you would comment on a thread that doesnt really interest you and stick to something that does. i.e. the higher echelons of intermediate and senior which is just brimming with all ireland winning teams...nuff said!

there are alot of people on these forums that talk rubbish but you take the biscuit and if the gaa were only for elite senior teams our game would not be what it is the greatest game in the world for all levels you are clearly not a true gaa man (maybe woman)

also B4j if bective were good enough they would be in the final clearly they were not and ashbourne are

i was merely makin the point that its the time of the year wer this forum gets very popular with all the WUM's. ratoath are a average enough team at best, i have watched them 3-4 times in league and championship. i only saw ashbourne juniors once against bective and both teams wer poor, i was just makin the point that people take junior football too seriously. ratoath wont win because ashbourne are too big of a team, and ratoath wont go anywer in leinster because they simply dont have the players wen it comes to county champions

it doesnt matter about the county titles, its about the session after!

I fully expect Ratoath to win comfortably enough. But to beat 3 reserve teams to win it in the knockout stages just shows what a poor grade of football it is.

iamgod, in the last 10 years, the Meath junior champions have won the Leinster junior club championship 8 times, including the last 5 in a row so I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that it's the poorest in Leinster. Now outside of Leinster, I'd agree that it's pretty poor, given that (as far as I know) the only team to even win a game in the All Ireland series was the great Wolfe Tones team.
As for Sunday, if the team play the way they did last Saturday, I'd be pretty confident of winning (especially given the fact that Simonstown beat Donaghmore in the group stages). However, another performance similar to the one against O'Mahony's in the group and Don/Ash will almost certainly win. All depends on which performance we get on the day. Should be a good game anyway. Looking forward to see how the team does in the IFC next year already.
