Thanks for your reply. You are correct in saying that the junior is an extremely competitive championship however I was more taken aback by the margin of Curraha's defeat at the weekend. Is there any hope for them to get out of the group now or does losing your first two make it an almost impossible task?

I will stand by what i said. Dunsany wont win the junior. You cannot lose all your league games and win a championship. Something is not right. Beyond me how they won the first too games. Maybe Curragha being favourites was all talk (they are out now) but Rataoth, Kilmainham and Cortown will have too many good players for Dunsany to handle.

I dont know, Dunsany have the experience and now will have the benefit of some of Drumrees players playing for them , Iv esaid from the start they will be a danger , look at Kilmainhamwoods league form , getting hammered in league games and then when championship comes they start dismantling teams. Cortown
have some fabulous footballers in the likes of Glen Loughran and Gary Coyne remember its not that long ago they were in the intermediate final against Ultans
Kilmainham are dark horses but will need Mickey Newman on board to win it out , Think Bective and Drumbaragh will be fairly even but IMO this will prob be Dunsanys year

Who did Dunsany pull in from Drumree and why didn't they make such an impression in the league?
I know Marsh & Clynch are big additions from their league squad which helps explains their resurgence but their league form was bad even for Dunsany

Curragha were missing 3 or 4 key players but they had those players against cortown so it's no excuse

dunsany were obviously missing a lot of players due to the hurling for there league games. but league proformance is completely different to championship. you can never properly judge a team by the league

Every year there is a thread dedicated to Dunsany, will they/won't they! They have lost at least 3 starting players from last years team due to emigration. That coupled with a clear focus on the championship led to the poor league form. Looks like some players are stepping up to the plate to fill those positions and doing it admirably. That being said there will most certainly be tougher challenges ahead then Moylagh and Curragha. Cortown will be another step up. Very early in the season but I think of all the teams in Junior nobody would begrudge Dunsany a championship.

I dont think it is that competitive at all a massive difference between the standards as the 1st 2 rounds have shown Group A maybe with St Brigids, Cortown Dunsany doing ok but Moylagh and Curraha are as good as out while Clonard where always going to find it hard

Group B is a very poor standard in the main with Kilmainham out on their own Summerhill will test them while Kwood will finish a poor 3rd and are lucky to be in such a weak Division Slane Duleek and Trim are way out of their League

Group C is another with a few decent Teams but results have shown that Drumconrath and skyrne are so far away from winning anything no more than the 3 weak teams in Group B. Ratoath, Drumbaragh, Bective and OMahonys will battle away among themselves

Group D once again some really poor sides in this group Don/Ash are well ahead of the posse but the others are miles away from getting silver ware.

To be honest there are a few teams who can win it but far too many no hopers

i cant help but take note of the drumbaragh vs skryne scoreline....7-16 to 1-6 for those who missed it. Outrageous!
Drumbaragh have surprised me and seem to be genuine contenders.

I saw in the first round they overcame NOM who were last yrs beaten finalists, they are goin strong in the league and have several players who were part of the u21 success last yr,Serious chance, yet as usual this thread is full of people biggin up rival clubs like they've been doin for the last 5 years. e.g as per every other yr, curragha, dunsany ratoath bective fill up the thread and in my opinion without any thought put into it. the HA are out, dunsany will fold like they do every yr, bective havent experienced knock out champo for a few yrs, and ratoath are still only kids at this level.

ACTUAL CONTENDERS: Drumbaragh, Kilmainham, Cortown.

agree with your sentiment dubsout many of the those teams are always touted and it gets quite tiresome.junior championship football seems to be a lottery at times and i think peaking at the right time is crucial there's about 8or9 teams capable of winning it but the team that gets it right from august onwards will ultimatley prevail.drumbaragh do seem to have turned a corner and there form is rather surprising considering there results over the last couple of years.peaked too soon..maybe. i hope the likes of meath hill or some of them that are never touted have a good run just to mix it up a bit although they have an easy enough group they will need to improve considerably. just my two cents worth good to discuss other teams rather than dunsany, bective, ratoath, kilmanham. blah blah blah

Re Dunsany

What's wrong with people? Dunsany have the same chance as anyone else to win the JFC, saying things like every year they get to the knockouts or final and don't win is unfair and has no logic to it. The fact is every team in the Junior has been failing to win the Junior every year of late, has come up from Junior B or has been relegated from the IFC. Otherwise they wouldn't be there in the 1st place. That Dunsany have the experience of finals, semi's and quarters going back the years one would think would strengthen their claim rather than write them off.

Also regarding their league form, it's no coincidence that a group of players depended heavily on for hurling duty is not doing well in the league. This is the only reason that the best Junior team in Leinster last year (Ballivor) is struggling at the bottom of div3.

Summer arrived 2 days ago, Championship is now King!

Another Question, what has happened to Slane? I see they only scored 3 points against Summerhills second team. Surely they are not that bad?? I thought when they got Andy McCann on board it might push them on a bit. Is he playing anymore and has Kerns retired? Things are not looking good for the club.

''Another Question, what has happened to Slane?''

Have you just arrived here from the 90's?

In fairness rath-togh you're a little quick to jump down people's throats on these forums.

Now while it's very possible he's from a local club and enjoying their demise, he merely asked why they were only putting up 3 points against a second team which I think is a fairly logical question. Nobody is suggesting they've been up to much since the turn of the Millennium but they seem to be hitting rock bottom this year

It was meant as a joke but in fairness, like text messages it can be hard to detect tongue in cheek on these forums

Re slane

McCann and Kearns retired....Kearns is a huge loss, he was winning and keeping them in games for the last 10 year's.

I presume they just don't have the numbers at the minute, a lot of clubs in the same boat.

Was never a big fan of them to be honest but you'd take no enjoyment out of some of the results they've had of late.
