Not many shocks this weekend but a few very good matches both yesterday and Friday night! The foitball in Junior A seems to be improving! What is the predictions for a outright winner? sticksandstones (Meath) - Posts: 55 - 22/04/2012 10:35:23 1157392 Link 0 |
Have to disagree with sticksandstones about junior A football is prob as weak as ive seen in over 25 years watching and playing junior football, emigration is prob the main reason along with the general apathy that has meath football on its knees, one club i know thats usually features in q/finals/semi finals over the last decade has lost about ten strong players in the the last year to emigration and injuries and got a severe hammering in the championship on friday night from a team in which other years there wouldnt be more than a kick of a ball between them. If the continueing pattern of emigration keeps going over the nxt few years many rural junior clubs will have to either disband or amalgamate. tailteannpark (Meath) - Posts: 174 - 22/04/2012 11:41:32 1157422 Link 0 |
In comparison to other countys junior football in meath is of a very high standard, thats why ballivor went so far last year, sticksandstones (Meath) - Posts: 55 - 22/04/2012 12:39:30 1157461 Link 0 |
Ballivor aren't your typical Junior A team they were only down there because of the Kildalkey split and went as far as they did because they got the Kildalkey lads back last year, not that long since they were Senior. Stuck_for_ash (USA) - Posts: 123 - 22/04/2012 15:26:59 1157550 Link 0 |
And sure what about Balinabrackey and Longwood the two years before that! 1loyalroyal (Meath) - Posts: 61 - 22/04/2012 16:55:16 1157600 Link 0 |
Not one of the recent Meath teams who won Leinster won a game in the all ireland series, even losing to the british representative. While the standard of junior football in Meath may be high, in Leinster it is poor. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1692 - 22/04/2012 17:42:06 1157635 Link 0 |
The like of longwood, ballinabrackey and ballivor had being knocking on the door for several years before winning a junior championship. at the moment there is not one team who would be up to that standard in meath any one of 5 or 6 teams could win the junior because standards have slipped right accross the board. tailteannpark (Meath) - Posts: 174 - 22/04/2012 17:44:51 1157638 Link 0 |

Dunsany win again with a 1-10 to 0-4 win over Curraha. Dunsany played well but Curraha were very poor imo. Still a deserved win for Dunsany! MeathMan09 (Meath) - Posts: 152 - 27/04/2012 20:52:39 1161701 Link 0 |
Curraha out - that is a big surprise. They seemed to be motoring well in the league The_Ripper (Meath) - Posts: 184 - 27/04/2012 21:19:33 1161711 Link 0 |
Just goes to show how little league form matters when it comes to championship!!! Dunsany lost all of their league games!! Very open Junior A championship this year. thebigyak (Meath) - Posts: 15 - 28/04/2012 11:15:38 1161790 Link 0 |

I cant see anything other than handy enough wins for both Moylagh and Cortown this weekend in Group A RoylerKing (Meath) - Posts: 809 - 28/04/2012 16:15:08 1161916 Link 0 |

Curraha were very poor last night in donore, but dunsany weren't too impressive. Stupid frees give away by the HA men led to a lot of scores. Dunsany are a fit and strong team Pat_the_lad (Meath) - Posts: 16 - 28/04/2012 19:28:50 1161989 Link 0 |
Ratoath were shocking but I'm relieved they pulled through rath_togh (Meath) - Posts: 740 - 29/04/2012 08:49:18 1162150 Link 0 |
What's going on with Curraha? They were some people's pre-championship favourites. Are they missing players? Can anyone shed any light on the reasons behind their poor championship showing to date? Aberta (Meath) - Posts: 17 - 30/04/2012 11:12:01 1162937 Link 0 |
