In hurling, players tend to get rid of the ball far more quickly than in football, so there are much less opportunities for the pulling and dragging that is so prevalent in football. Most football managers nowadays would have fit if one of their players actually kicked the ball more than 20 yards. It is all about holding up possession and making short passes and this inevitably leads to bunching, which in turn leads to fouling. Modern inter-county gaelic football is bloody awful stuff. Thankfully hurling managers have not yet succumbed to similar methods and strategies. Gaillimh_Abu (Galway) - Posts: 1040 - 26/03/2012 21:31:35 1137860 Link 0 |
Hurling teams that lose a man can be destroyed by the opposition in turn killing of the spectators game where as in football a team can survive a bit easier being a man down. Only a view but i think a fair one. North Side Gael (None) - Posts: 1076 - 27/03/2012 08:33:59 1137899 Link 0 |
